Pendleton 8th grader Allen out for year?

Featured Replies

I was told that Pendleton County eighth grader Dontae Allen broke his wrist last night and is out 3 to 4 months. Anyone there that can confirm? It is a shame if correct because he had been averaging 16 or 17 points a game in the latest box scores I had seen.

It was during the Garrard/Pendleton game at Berea last night. Allen went up for a rebound over a Garrard kid and came down hard. He appeared to try and brace his fall with his wrist and I'm not surprised if it is broken. One of the Garrard parents, who is a nurse, went down to the court to check on him and came back saying it looked pretty bad. Hate to see any kid get hurt.

That would be a tough break for he and the Cats.

Broken wrists shouldn't take 3-4 months to heal.

Brossart's Logan Schultz broke his wrist in two spots in practice in mid-November. He has been fully cleared and has been back in action for the past two weeks - a total of about 4 weeks down-time, max.

All I can confirm is that he suffered a wrist injury yesterday. Not sure how severe it is at this moment. It's certainly a big blow to the recent successes Pendleton County had been having. Dontaie is a great kid, and has a VERY bright future.

Not sure but was told it was a compound fracture.

According to Twitter coach Bealcher tweeted he's probably done for the season.

Terrible news for PC and all wildcat faithful. Allen has been instrumental to Pendelton's recent success. Has been putting up a lot of points as of late and will be a big void for PC to fill.

What's worse is he not the only injured wildcat. They lost another kid for the yr according to Twitter and also have two or three kids nurseing injuries.

I had the same thing my senior year in high school playing baseball. I actually taped it and finished the game.

Wore a cast for two weeks, did nothing but bat for a week with a modified cast, and was back to my normal self that 4th week.

When I say a compound fracture I mean the bone has actually came thru the skin, if you had that and taped it up and finished a game than all I can say is WOW.

There are varying degrees of severity that only the professionals can determine.

Hope he is on the mend soon with no permanent damage.

The way you described it I could visualize perfectly---using your wrist to break your fall. Happened to my son a few years back.

Mine obviously wasn't that severe... :lol2:

I really hate to hear this. Prayers out to him and the team.

So you didn't have a compound fracture?

So you didn't have a compound fracture?

I was thinking of a compact fracture (often confused for compound fracture). My sister is a nurse and laughed when I asked if I had a compound fracture. It was the more common Colles Fracture which is why I was back sooner than the usual 6 weeks.
