Harrell Ejection

Featured Replies

I still don't believe a suspension was warranted, but oh well. Gives him a little more rest this week. He will learn from it and be better because of the time off.

I think as a Kentucky fan, I'd rather him not have been suspended for one game. He's going to come out even more fired up. Maybe it will cause him to pick up some early fouls.

Who did? UK fans en masse? I don't recall that.

One person called Harrell a thug. Lets try not to lump everyone in that group.

This "incident" isn't suspension worthy.

Harrell -- action was stupid. No excuses. Penalty handed out was just. He will learn or suffer consequences. Pitino confirmed same immediately after the game.

Cousins -- action was stupid. No excuses. Penalty handed out was insufficient (but it was a different time). He did not learn and continued similar behavior into the NBA and earned a reputation he now seems to be trying to dig out from under. Don't remember what Cal's response was after the game, but I would be surprised if it was "Cousins did something stupid in the heat of the moment and probably should have been ejected."

Bottom Line -- Cousins should be a cautionary tale for Harrell.

Yeah, it hasn't worked out very well for Boogie. :lol2: He's done a good job shedding that rep this season and this past summer and I think he's doing just fine.

Yeah it's a rough life as the best true center in professional basketball. Harrell should be praying every night that he can be like DeMarcus Cousins.

And now we see part what likely set him off, as WKU's No. 5 takes a little shot as Harrell's on the floor.

No means no.

He still should have been suspended for what he did after, but as long as we can all stop pretending like WKU's players were innocent guys that were just playing hard. This game was nasty all around.

There are several videos and angles of the guy punching/grabbing at Harrell's groin area on the floor, but many have been and will continue to ignore it.

For what it is worth here's the thread on the UK-UL game where Cousins threw the forearm: http://bluegrasspreps.com/college-basketball/kentucky-71-louisville-197068.html

The roles were pretty much reversed. The UK fans were making excuses for Cousins: Either he was provoked by a knee to the head or didn't connect etc. A few UL fans were calling him a punk. It's all about which team the player is on as to how offended you get about a player's actions.

This was a heat of the moment thing. Harrell deserved his ejection. I'm not sure he should have received an additional game but it won't affect the Cards in the long run. I don't think that incident makes him a dirty player or a thug. He apologized and seemed sincere about it. I'm ready to move on.

Some people have flip flopped over this issue more than a politician. To me it's simple; if you defended Cousins and are attacking Harrell you're being hypocritical and if you called Cousins a thug but defend Harrell you're doing the same.

Both had opponent who set them off. Both overreacted and did dumb things. Both probably regret it.

But it's hilarious to see Harrell's actions justified. What a joke. He hasn't even justified them...

Who punched Cousins in the junk prior to him dropping the elbow?

If Montrez Harrell wanted to hurt the guy, he would of. Something set the big fella off, he doesn't just go after someone on a regular basis. I like the guy on WKU just looking terrified until Harrell is surrounded by coaches and players and then he starts talking again. You'd have to have a screw loose to mess with that guy.

Who punched Cousins in the junk prior to him dropping the elbow?

And that justifies throwing a punch in a game? Do you realize that if he connected and seriously injured that guy from WKU this would be a national issue? Not just sportsmanship wise, but draft status, public image, etc. I understand why he did it, but at the same time YOU CANNOT DO THAT.

That's really not a hard concept to understand Deuce. It is something that cannot happen on the court, field, or any other athletic place. He owned his mistake, its time you do the same and admit that there really isn't a reason for it unless it is self defense.

In Cousins case it seemed to be a knee to the head or an attemted knee to the head that sat him off.

I'm not condoning him throwing a "punch," but some are acting like Harrell got mad for no reason. That simply isn't the case. He had a very legitimate reason to be mad, and the WKU player should have received a similar, if not worse, punishment as Harrell.

Who said he had no reason to be mad on here? He had no reason to throw a punch, but he had plenty of reason to be mad.
