Hate to see a wild animal killed, but yeah, if there was a Mountain Lion roaming Germantown, I'd be a lot more comfortable with it dead. I think Layla and Traceygirl(my cat and dog) could scrap, but they ain't winning that fight.

Did I just see somewhere this morning that Mountain Lions use to be the norm during the Civil War? Must of been the choice of meals as why they were thinned out in our area(Kentucky).

They didn't have any tranquilizers available.

That's why they chose to shoot the animal. It was getting dark, the tranquilizers were not readily available and they were afraid it was going to get away and cause a threat.

I was just commenting on the choice of terms. Euthanasia is a term which generally refers to putting an animal to death to alleviate pain and suffering.

If that thing had gotten a hold of me, or anyone else, there would have been a lot of pain and suffering. So yes, euthanized is acceptable. :lol2:

I understand why they did what they did. And the reports state they didn't have tranquilizers available. My question is, why isn't it standard policy for all game wardens to carry tranquilizers in their vehicles? I mean, as many bear sightings that we've had one would think tranquilizers would be available to all game officials. If that had been the case here this big cat or any large wild animal could have been relocated to a zoo or to another state where they live.

I don't know that as fact but someone on Facebook posted that. He said he had worked with them before.
