Can anyone answer the question to why was the Band not included into the state champ pictures? Some parent's are not happy about this and we would like to know why everyone was in it but them? Why does the bank seem not so important in the football program when they traveled down with us did they not.

 

I can answer. The band didn't win anything.

 

For the parents that are not happy, teach your kid that you have to win something to get a trophy that means anything.

 

Lastly the band is not important to the team. When was the last time the New England Patriots needed a band to win?

I've been away from BGP for about a week. I literally spent the last hour reading this entire thread. What was I thinking when I thought there might be a dead period without any drama? Silly me. Highlands#1, if your intent was to get some opinions based on ONE local news story, then I feel bad for you that you can't be an independent free-thinking individual, who can take it for what it is - ONE LOCAL NEWS STORY WRITTEN BY ONE PERSON, WHO HAS ONE PARTICULAR OPINION ON THE MATTER. Just because this article was written doesn't mean there are problems. It doesn't mean anything. Think for yourself, man! You've obviously seen the talent on HHS's freshman team. It's fair to ask how people think they may do at the JV level or even wonder how they'll do when they're upper classmen. You didn't cross any lines and didn't offend me or probably anyone else. I'll give you credit there. Highlands has shown over decades that they will get the best out of what they have. Sometimes it's good enough to win it all. Sometimes it's not. Sometimes they are hated, but they darned sure are respected for sustaining a culture that breeds winning. Have faith in your program that they'll get the best out of however much talent they'll have. It's way too early to predict what will happen and who will play where and when they'll be a starter. Just know your son is in a great position of being in a tradition-rich program, where he will be given every opportunity to succeed and help continue to build on the Highlands tradition. Many parents would love for their son to have the opportunity that your son has. Remember that. Not all programs are alike. There are so many good HS football players in NKY that will NEVER be given the opportunities to reach their full potential simply because their programs lack the quality of coaching, talent and tradition of Highlands. I have a son who will be playing HS football next year for another NKY team, so I don't have any allegiances to Highlands. Just giving you my two cents and a little perspective from an outsider. Best of luck to your son and his career. I hope he achieves whatever goals he sets.

I wasn't trashing the band. They just don't need to be brought into this discussion. If the band wins a championship, the championship picture should be of the band.

Did the dance team or cheerleading team win a championship? Didn't think so. I my friend rest my case.

My best guess is that the band who were there didn't run out onto the field in celebration after the win.

 

The first pictures we took were of the team. Then the KHSAA guy yelled over and said get the girls in there. The cheer squad and dance team were right to the side and quickly put into it.

 

It's also possible that they weren't allowed on to the field (or out of stands) since they were not in uniform.

Security seemed to be doing a good job maintaining order and access.

You don't have to explain anything Allen. We all appreciate all the pictures you take. People should really find out the correct information before spouting off on BGP. My guess is the person complaining was not even at the game. If they were, or if they had been the last 8 years during this run of championships, they would know that the field security will not allow anyone onto the field without the proper pass. The band members were in the stands. So no need to explain why they were not in any pictures.

 

Keep up the good work. And let me know when the band decides to call or hire you to take pictures of their performances.
