Interesting tidbit about the super district

Whose complaining? I'm making a statement of fact. The best players in the state are concentrated in Metro Louisville. Is it really that difficult a point to concede?

Maybe it's the water.

I believe it is a combination of a lot of things, but chiefly, NKY's propensity to build new schools and split their student base, rather than to expand existing facilities. I can't remember the last time JCPS built a whole new school. It may have been in the 70's or early 80's. Trinity, X, DeSales, Assumption, Sacred Heart, Presentation and Holy Cross all exist at their original sites. Holy Cross became a school by combining Angela Merici and Bishop David (only co-ed Catholic HS in Lou) and located at the site of Bishop David. Mercy built a new school after they outgrew the East Broadway Campus. JCPS high schools manage enrollment through a combination of boundaries and open enrollment. Want a larger pool? Find a way to keep all the fish in one lake instead of splitting them all out into smaller ponds.

Enrollment differences are definitely a big reason for the talent gap, especially in a class that has NO upper boundary.

Maybe it's the water.

I didn't ask for a reason, simply confirmation.

Can some of Louisville folks chime in for RCC9's sake and confirm that Metro Louisville is simply a deeper talent pool than the rest of the state? Furthermore, I can tell you that manyFBS programs only recruit KY in Louisville and ignore the rest of the state.

Not saying the talent pool isn't deeper. They have twice the population. But that talent is spread out over more schools as well. Like I said, year to year, they have anywhere from 5-7 schools that the NKY schools can't compete with. So it's not like ALL the talent is at one school. They have 5-7 on a given year and out best team couldn't have played with 4 of them this year. More talent as a whole, yes. But spread out too.

Then explain male and manual.

Then explain male and manual.

Well, obviously their kids are more committed and thier coaching superior.

If they consistently beat the other non-Super District teams (15-2 in the playoffs), that speaks for itself since we're speaking about facts right...

All of the back and forth is irrelevant. Size is a necessary but not sufficient criterion for winning 6A. Kentucky does not have many schools that put the kind of effort into football that Trinity does. I can only think of one other school. They dominate the small school titles the way Trinity does the big school titles.

Another advantage to the ultra large squads (notice I say squads, not just the enrollment) is that with so many player you get more focus and effort from the entire team. They are internally competing for a set number of spots. That makes the players give 100%+ in every practice in every snap and every freshmen or JV game. Not saying that smaller squads do not give 100% or slack off or are lazy at all. Its just you have bring it every single time you are padded up to win a spot and get of the field on Fridays - in some cases waiting till you are a senior for 'your time'.

Having been to many a freshmen game against the Green Monsters our parents would sometimes be upset about the effort and intensity down to the very last snap in a blow out game. Noting that even the coaches were pushing players to the last snap. But I would explain to them that with over 100 freshmen on the team those guys on the field at the end of the game may have only gotten in the last few plays and they were trying impress coaches and coaches were coaching them intensely down to that very last snap and seeing who gets more time next game or next year. I think this internal battling for playing time it is definite advantage of the large squad programs.

PA has separate tournaments for public schools and catholic schools. T and X should be in a gcl type league with the Indy Cathedrals, Moellers and LaSalles of the world. Beating your chests winning KY 6A is like a varsity squad celebrating a win over a pee wee team. After 50 years of domination why is there no response from the rest of 6A? Simply rotating tournament brackets is a joke. Everyone knows that you are playing for second place, including the kids in your feeder. Compelling public schools to compete with T and X is a major reason for mediocrity in 6A. Kids want a reasonable chance to compete for titles, and without that, 6A schools will continue to hemorrhage talent. KHSAA has given 6A the middle finger for 50 years. Its time to return the favor!

I realize that you're new here but this has been hashed and rehashed and rehashed and beaten to death here so many times it's getting to the point of absurdity. Are you also decrying the success that Highlands has had over the years?

So what you're saying is you can't explain why, huh? That a school that is very similar in size and access to about the same amount of kids, relies on all the athletes that don't go to T, X, Desales and LCA, but still dominates NKY teams. Same as Manual. What advantage do they have over SK or Dixie? Do you have an answer or just deflecting? My point, if we agree the majority of the athletes head to T and X, how does Male and Manual stay competitive. Not on the high end of number of boys.

I don't think anybody in 6A would have a problem competing with HHS. HHS is not T or X. The theme of the thread is the dominance of the super district in 6A. I'm simply agreeing with that theme, but challenging the lack of response to it.

Every kid wants a title. The way to get it is NOT to remove all the hurdles in the way so everyone can win a ribbon! There are thousands of kids that don't become champions. Why would you want to remove the best instead of striving to beat the best? I really don't understand this new world we are in. People feel entitled to win titles! Winning championships should not be easy!! This is the attitude that drives me crazy in NKY.

Let's face it, Male, Manual, Trinity & St. X are ALL Open Enrollment schools, that's why they have so many good players, ANYONE in Jefferson County can go to those schools, that's the difference. Plus, they all 4 have some pretty solid coaching right now as well. I actually think Male & Manual have an advantage over Trinity & X because there is NO tuition!

X has stricter admission standards than T. Male has stricter admission standards than Manual, due to them being a traditional school.
