Well obviously you look at scrimmages a lot different than the HHS staff (thank god!). If you are concerned about competitive scrimmages, then there's that culture I'm talking about. Who cares about scrimmages??

You may reply with exasperation, but results are results. X has at least the resources of Trinity, a slightly larger number of students and lesser results. That means a less effective implementation. It has been the same story for much of the last 47 seasons. It has been more pronounced over the past fifteen seasons, but it goes back a long way.

What makes you think they can't touch Trinity? Scrimmages? Didn't they play right with Elder and Chris Columbus...two teams that are clearly on the Trinity level. Didn't they just beat O that played BG down to the wire...yes, the BG team that beat St X.

But Since you asked...here you go! HHS record against the super district. And we are nowhere near a 6A team!!

Do you really get much satisfaction winning a tournament that includes mostly public schools? Wouldn't your players, coaches and alumni be more excited to win a tournament that included Indy Cathedral, Moeller, Elder, St. Ed etc?

 

Do you perceive that you play on level playing field with the public schools?

 

I apparently don't devalue the rest of the state quite as much. If you really want a tournament like that to happen actually work towards it instead of complaining that these schools haven't done it themselves. Then when you start running into the logistical nightmare that such a boondoggle would necessitate, you'll understand why it hasn't already been done.

I believe Dixie could have played well against and maybe even beaten Bryan Station and I watched HHS just barely beat them. HHS is a great program that was lucky to get one of the most innovative coaches in KY High School History. But 1 thing HHS has never or very seldom had to do on their way to a state championship is beat any athletes from the city of Louisville, which is a big advantage.

By effort, I don't mean effort by just the kids. I don't doubt that the effort is there from the kids at a lot of places. I mean the total package, kids, coaches, administration and fans.

Dixie and SK could combine rosters and still not come within 3 scores of Trinity. Application of the "HHS Way" at Campbell is a complete failure and refutes all of RCC9's arguments, which is why he won't go there.

Here is the point, competing with X and Trinity is more than just changing the culture, working hard, great coaching, playing a tough schedule, etc. History tells this story when year after year the same schools win the biggest class in the state. Scott County is a huge school with good coaching, good players, strong work ethic, the only HS in the county, and the only HS within a 15-20 mile radius.That is a recipe for success, but it still took Coach McKee 16 years to get SC over the hump. NKY is a very different animal with the number of independent school districts. Multiple 6A teams play Highlands next fall and if any of them beat Highlands, it will be great for their programs, but it won't mean a hill of beans when it comes to winning a 6A state title. Look at Ryle in 2010. Beat Highlands in week 10, lost to Trinity in the semi-finals, and Highlands wins the state title.

So for the record...I went back to 1998...which is how far the scoreboard goes back to.

 

Here's what I found in that time.

 

4-4 against the super district in that time. What else can I do for you. Again, playing them by choice, not in the playoffs. And yes, the games slow after about 06 (with two against Manual in 9 and 10), because we started playing GCL teams instead because of logistics. In some years, we played GCL teams and Louisville teams. And lately Fla teams and GCL teams.

 

Let me ask you this, has all 5 NKY 6A schools combined even played the super district teams 8 times since 98? I have no idea. If the answer is yes, how many of those were by choice?

No, but Louisville has alot more athletes than most of the schools you play on the way to state titles. Louisville HS football has more talent than any other area of the state and you dont have to play against any of them. HHS has very good athletes and would compete well against them but it would be a much tougher road to go competing for state titles against kids from the Ville. Just petition the KHSSA to have HHS move up to 6A and we will see how many state championship you win. Don give me that size of the school because you are always touting how well you play against the Cincinnati schools. I doubt you would have won very many 6A titles in the last 15 years, maybe a few but not near as many due to having to play the talent from Louisville.

Then shoot higher than HHS. But HHS would be a good start because if you can't compete with them, you aren't going to compete with the super district. But until next year, the 6A schools didn't even play them!

And we are back to the original point I made in this thread. There is no competing with the SD teams for championships in 6A. If KHSAA continues to compel the rest of 6A to compete, then it is high time the rest of schools make a strong statement.
