I never again want to hear about how Hazard beat a Mayfield but Mayfield should have had the title.

 

Williamsburg has to be hurting over this one.

 

Credit for Mayfield for making the key plays though and taking advantage of opportunities. As a Belfry fan who has seen a couple games where Belfry won every stat category but the scoreboard against Central only to come up short I can sympathize with Wburg.

Can't stress enough about how impressive WB WAS. we have lost some we should have won and vise versa I feel the WB PAIN.

Feel bad for WB. Great catches by receivers. Good line play. QB outstanding. Mayfield was opportunistic. Great play call on the first play in O T to Bright. WB should have gone for the chip shot.when down 8.

Williamsburg was the better team but to many missed opportunities..

As a Mayfield fan, I have no problem with the Williamsburg was better team today comments. Obviously you can always point to the scoreboard. But we have been on the short end a few times Danville and Ft Knox and Bardstown on occassion. Would Mayfield win more than half the time in 10 gamescagainst this WB team? Yes but only 6-4 or 7-3 tops

Better team doesn't always win. But Mayfield survived...where's all those people who said the title game was last week.i know # 8 reminded me of Brandon Jones of Hazard..

Glad to walk away with the win! Wburg has a heck of a team. QB is a great player. Another game where we capitalized on the opponents mistakes. Good teams do that. Tired of who the better team is crap. We won and that's all that matters.

The better team on a given day does not always win man! It's not unheard of that a team outplays its competition yet still loses a heart-breaker. Believe it or not that can happen even to the mighty Mayfield. Be happy with the win definitely, but you don't know a thing about the sport if you honestly think Mayfield played better overall than WB TODAY

I guess if you was on the losing end you would be gripping and wining... Give credit where it's due..

In hindsight, Williamsburg may have waited a little too long to open up the playbook, needed to get Shelton involved earlier.

Williamsburg with 17 1st downs and 372 total yards, plus 2 turnovers.

Mayfield finished with 187 total yards, 10 1st downs and 1 turnover.

Got to give Joe "Soup" Morris some credit for going 14-1 with such a young team. His call on the first play ultimately decided it. And he is now 84 - 6 in the last 6 yrs and 4 titles.

First I wanna say a great game by Williamsburg,the qb was excellent, he threw the ball very well and he had quick feet , he was one of the best qb's that I've seen this season. The receivers of Willliamsburg also made some fantastic catches today. I thought Williamsburg stopped our run most of the game. I can't really say that Williamsburg was the better team today,maybe they played equally but came up a little short. Both teams made plenty of mistakes. One thing we talked about in the game was Williamsburg not kicking the field goal when down 8 from the 5 yd line. I guess Mayfield was lucky the last 2 games but they got the trophy

Very opportunistic. Williamsburg controlled 90% of the game. But the 10% Mayfield controlled was more pivotal.
