Plenty of non-sports fans at major colleges know the athletes whether they are the star quarterback or not. Especially, a two sport freak athlete.

Everyone in the state of Florida knew who Jameis Winston was before he stepped foot on that campus. I have a really hard time believing he was at Potbelly's and there wasn't a buzz in the air about Winston being there that night. He's arguably the most famous Seminole since Deion Sanders and I am including before he ever played a down of football for FSU. He was that big of a deal and that big of a recruit for FSU.

 

Also, she didn't know he was a football player, but he was at the restaurant with a bunch of other football players? Come on now...

Why didn't she name him immediately if she knew who he was? Why did her aunt/attorney then say they were concerned going forward because they had learned how big a deal he was? Makes no sense.

 

I think people on here who are sports fans way over estimate the importance of sports and don't recognize the fact that there is a large percentage of the population who don't follow it closely enough to recognize a face. They might recall a name but even that isn't a given.

 

There are a lot of good questions that could be answered by interviewing people who were in the bar with the girl. I haven't seen anything that shows that has been done.

If she wants to say she didn't know who he was, okay. I MAY buy that. If she says she didn't know he was an athlete, I'm not buying it. I can walk on to EKU's campus right now and point out the athletes and I couldn't name one of them.

It sounds like Winston took advantage of a very drunk girl. That makes him a bad guy, I'm not sure if that makes him a rapist. That would depend on how drunk and the laws of Florida but he's a bad guy, that I'm sure of.

I have a very good friend that umpires college baseball and has done many ACC and SEC baseball games. He has told me several times about 4-5 schools that there are places in town that have women waiting on college athletes. Says that FSU all the women know the football team. He says it is pretty sad the way some behave.(women)

I am not arguing the rape. I have no idea. If I had to guess, it probably was not. That doesn't mean she knew who he was. If she knew his name, please give me a rational explanation of why she did not report his name, nor that he was an athlete.

What BAC does it take for someone to be "very drunk"? When they tested her, it was .04 BAC and they have extrapolated that to .10 at the time of the "attack". .08 is legally drunk. I do not think it makes you "very drunk" or "tore down drunk".

 

That's to say nothing of what you are simply assuming.
