I thought they said at the end of the FSU/GT game just now that Florida State was the only one of the teams in the mix to play all 12 of their games against the 5 "power conference" teams.

They played the Citadel.

The committee is so screwed. And I love it. Reap what you sow.

 

Their choices of who to leave out:

 

-TCU - A team they boosted to #3 with shaky logic last week. TCU lost to Baylor, a team in playoff contention. They have won 7 straight games, most in blowout fashion, and won by 52 today the week after jumping to 3rd. Also, they're not Big 12 champions, despite what the Big 12 would have you believe.

 

-FSU - The only undefeated team in the nation and the defending champions.

 

-OSU - The team that looks to be the best of these contenders. Terrible loss to Va. Tech a long time ago but beat a top 10 Michigan State team and just DUH-STROYED #13 Wisconsin with a third string QB.

 

-Baylor - A team that lost on the road the week after beating TCU, but, you know, beat TCU. Also blew out Oklahoma in Norman (although the cache of that got hurt today).

 

 

And if you want to look to some logical criteria for what they'll do, good luck. They make it up every week. (So and so has more win over current top 25 teams. So and so beat teams that were highly ranked at the time. And so forth.)

I'd leave OSU out. A home loss to VT is worse than either of TCU's or Baylor's L.

Played 12 games against the power 5 conference schools plus Citadel for a total of 13.

That last spot is tough. I hope OSU gets it but if they don't and TCU/Baylor gets it then I'm fine with that also. I think they'll give it to OSU though.

I really WANT OSU in but if the committee does not put them in, I can understand. There is NO way to pick the four without a furor of some kind. Just a mess...good thing in a way because it will hasten an 8 team playoff.

But it was an early loss.. Like I said before I am not an OSU fan. But this past week we were debating whether OSU would be penalised due to having to play a third string qb. I thought they would be, but imo, they can't be, this qb is good. On the other hand, we want to penalise them for an early loss against a team that has a couple of good wins and close games. It just doesn't make logical sense.

 

The only team in contention that doesn't have a loss is FSU. Everyone else in contention has one loss and a case can be made for all of them. But OSU looked as good as any team I have watched this year tonight, they shouldnt be punished for losing one game early in the season.

 

As I mentioned before, I am not an OSU fan at all and if you look at my posts you will see that. But they need to be in the playoff. If they are not, I have no faith in the playoff system.
