I agree there. My fear is that social media combined with mainstream media combined with underground media creates such a toxic mixture and it just seems to be getting worse by the day. I'd say everyone with a Facebook account has seen some pretty scary commnets from both sides over all of this Ferguson stuff. I've seen a whole lot of ranting and raving and haven't seen anyone listening. It is truly a concerning issue for me going forward in our world. It's like we're going backwards.

This is why I say the constitution is an outdated piece of crap. When people exercise their first amendment rights to assemble peaceably you want to run them over with your cars and you hope that someone would run them over yet you talk crap on the looters? That's so backwards.

You don't have a first amendment right to block the interstate.

All about perception and perspective. Seems peaceful to me. Especially when it is known beforehand. First amendment says I can peacefully protest. Doesn't say where.

 

You have a right to protest. You don't have the right to stop me from driving because you want to stand in the road. Why should my rights be trampled so you (not you specifically) can stand in the road like an idiot.

Maybe if people chose something worth protesting for, their protest would reach people. It's overwhelmingly clear to many people that the Officer involved in the case they are protesting did nothing wrong.

Really broad brush there to compare gang bangers with protestors. At the same time, this case in Ferguson has done nothing but highlight the huge gap that there is between blacks and whites. We'll never be equal and we do good just to co-exist. We definitely don't understand one another nor do we care about each other's perspective. Worst of all, we've all taught our kids the exact same thing so the cycle will continue.

News reporters and camera men have been assaulted by "protestors" and all they were doing was filming. How do we know who is protesting and who is a "Gang Banger?"

 

I'd feel a little like that scene in "42" when the reporter is trying to get Jackie out of town before a mob come to get them. When they pass a watering hole, some men spill out into the streets. The guys floors it to get away. Why?

Nowhere does it say you can't yell "fire" in a crowded theater but you can't. Beside the fact that you're discounting that it is already illegal to be on the interstate in the first place. All for people being able to protest and for the Constitution but this argument is silly.

A couple of points to make clear here.

 

Yes, it's illegal to be on the interstate. No question.

 

That doesn't , though, make it OK for a vehicle to run over a protestor. Unless the protestor jumps out in front of a moving car that has no chance to stop it is 100% UNACCEPTABLE to run them over. It's also unconscionable. Who could do that if they weren't being threatened?

 

The Reginald Denny comparison is quite a stretch here. While I didn't see the film I heard NOTHING about protestors being aggressive or threatening to drivers or their passengers. If so, then absolutely run their butt over. However, if it's not the case then you just have to wait until the police break it up.

 

PP92 is not incorrect in the "looter mentality" if you say it's just too bad for them if they're in the road. Just like it's unconscionable to loot it's the EXACT same to run over a non-violent protestor if you had time to stop. Both are criminal mindsets in my opinion.

 

Be mad at the protestors all day long. Hate their cause or reason. However, you can't run them over.

Just because those are your beliefs and opinions doesn't make the peaceful protestors wrong in what they are protesting. Despite what you are calling 'facts' others question those 'facts' and peacefully protest about it. They aren't winning anyone over with their peaceful protests.

I don't include anyone participating in violence or committing a violent crime or looting over this issue as a protestor. Gang bangers assault people and steal and loot. Not protestors. It's easy for me to see the difference.

 

I haven't seen 42 likely never will so I can't really answer that question.
