Beau Hoge's Incredible Run!

Featured Replies

Maybe a better schedule would have helped CCH tackle better, lol.....

They must have been good tacklers when they played Dixie and Johnson Central. Sorry Cov Cath fans, but the inability to tackle him was due to Hoge, not the CC defenders. They made tackles all night, one incredible run made them look silly and now all of a sudden they are poor tacklers. It's an incredible run and if you weren't there, you have no idea.

Didn't have much of a chance to make a good tackle. No one got a real bead on him, couple got a hand but no more. Can't tackle what you can't catch.

Not saying anything about weekly comparisons...I'm saying they must not be that bad of a tackling team...as you want to point out. Are you saying they were good tacklers in week one and not anymore? Has nothing to do with "championship week"...we are talking about Cov Caths tackling ability.

And BTW...Thin skinned?...none of this is going on if Moore wasn't brought up and compared to Hoge on Hoge's thread.

I never said they were a bad tackling team, but on that play, they didn't tackle well.

And if you could show me where I compared Moore to Hoge I'd appreciate it. The problem is you can't, so I'm not sure why you keep coming at me with posts about DH and CCH. :idunno:

It's interesting talking about the tackling. This is something that can help your argument. I was just reading the update thread and the 8th post of the thread was from Colonels_Wear_Blue and he said this

Cov Cath's #1 problem all season long was not the injury bug. The #1 problem: How do we tackle?

CCH did have an issue during the game of getting hits at the LOS but the runner still getting good yardage. On the play in question no one got in a good position to make a tackle. Beau wouldn't allow it. I'm sure you've heard the term "it's like herding cats," reminded me of that.

Regarding missed tackling in this thread.

shooting video for the jumbo tron and in this case sent footage to a national media . Kudos to the Highlands Broadcasting students.:ylsuper:

C'mon Henry...get with the program

That's JumBIRDtron...:thumb:

I just watched Max Preps Friday night live top ten plays of the week. None of them even came close to Beau's run. Send it in they will show it for sure.

Exactly...This is most probably why "The Run" went a little higher than Max Preps

It was the greatest run I have ever seen by a QB or for that matter any player at Highlands :thumb:

I agree and I have been watching for 50 years!

I've seen a lot of great plays. I would count this as one. It's not the greatest though. The greatest plays are one on one, where the back does all the work. He had a lot of help. There were a ton of birds running interference. Still. All in all a great run.

This was a great play. I disagree with the one on one plays. Once you are past "one" would be tackler, it's over. Beau had to get past 11 would be tacklers and lol, 10 offensive players. He dodge all of them too because of his weaving through the entire filed it seemed like. It's all in fun, the talk of this play, but that was an incredible play. As are a lot of other plays every Friday night. We just happened to watch it live. I'm hoping to see another tonight.

See I think of plays like this as fun plays. He's dodging his own people and the other team, while his team is trying to block and the other team is trying to tackle. It's not in the same class as guys who break six or seven tackles on their own, which I've seen, but its still a great play. I've watched it several times to see the flat out effort of all the guys on both sides trying to figure out a way to help or make the play. The fact that it happened last week, and is on the internet makes it great for those of us who weren't there, but it doesn't make it the greatest. Not every good moment is or has been captured on film. I've seen guys out move and out run 11 guys on a defense before and I'll see it again, and I probably wont have anything but my memory to share it with. lol But I will revel in seeing whats posted with all the bird fans. Its fun to discuss on a Friday before the game if nothing else.
