I do not buy this argument. Every private school parent pays for public school kids to go to school as well as their own. Our choice, but also your choice not to fund your facilities. Meade County has one high school. The county does have enough money to pay for the facilities. The big difference is that there is no tradition of raising money to pay for what you need. By necessity, we have always had that tradition. We don't have any other way to pay for it.

This is apples and oranges...You are in Louisville and in a professional area with professional money at your disposal. I grew up in Louisville and then in Meade, so I think I know what the environment is like better than you. There is not enough extra money from the populous to support such an undertaking.

When you go to school with poor farmers who have to work before they go to school and then after -- and they still scrape by with so very little...Well, you just can't compare Meade to Trinity. I mean, I went there in the 70s (moved from Louisville when I was 14 -- part of the "white flight"), and we didn't have air conditioning in the school, my family shared a "party" phone line, and we didn't have ONE fast food chain in the entire county, for God's sake! It was like going back to the 50s.

Sure, the economy for Brandenburg a gotten a little better and the population has grown three fold, but there's still a lot of poverty in the county. It's hard to extract blood from a stone.

And I know what it is like to send your kids to Catholic school -- mine went to Cov Cath, where we held fund raisers out the wazoo to equip our kids with the best (that we could get for the price -- ahem...).

I graduated in 2001, we didn't have air conditioning in the entire school until my senior year. Not saying they are the same demographically, I do see your point. Just pointing out that all the nicer campus you see at Trinity is a recent thing, due largely to donations and funding drives. T does have some wealthy donors though.

I know Carmel. Heck, I used to work around there. Nice town!

I know you've heard of them. They beat you with that offense. lololol Good try though!

The difference is:

A. Carmel is MUCH BETTER then Meade County, and

B. Trinity is playing much better offensively then they were then.

If we're going to play the comparison game then let's go back to Male. THey shut Meade out.

None of that matters, both teams have losses to good teams, and have imroved significantly since those losses. I'm not sure why you guys (Meade and Trinity fans alike) keep on referring back to regular season wins or losses. I think that collectively we agree that at this point in the season, those things don't real matter too much.

Well considering that Meade and Trinity haven't played each other. Tell me please how your sure of the fact that Carmel is "MUCH BETTER"? Not taking anything away from you or them, but I'm curious. Not trying to be facetious.

Carmel is ranked #21 (and #25 in another poll) IN THE COUNTRY... Where's Meade County?

T does not have the playmakers of the recent past. Trinity is winning IMO because of its physicality, in much the same way it did in the Lampley years. And as with most Beatty-coached teams, it has improved over the last part of the season. Most of the silly penalties and blown coverages have been eliminated. The QB is solid and is making plays. T's front seven have been playing lights out. From what I've learned about Meade County, they are a running team out of the wing T. I beleve that the game will be decided in T's defensive box. If MC has success there, they'll win. If not, T wins.

As a Meade fan I ask that the Trinity faithful take some of the comments from other Meade fans with a grain of salt. I knew that the comments leading up to this game would end up like this, but I had hoped they wouldn't.

Most of the residents of Meade County have a very deep sense of pride and tradition in the place that they live (I do as well, it is a fantastic place). Residents love to brag and "show off" this wonderful place whenever the opportunity presents itself and the football team happens to be a very large bragging point at the moment. Our residents take great pride in all things Meade County, but when someone questions or is deemed to disparage that point of pride (even if it is unintentional) Meade Countians are quick to defend. A lot of our residents have a slight chip on their shoulder, especially when those comments come from residents of Louisville. Some have it in their minds that people from Louisville look down on our community, and I'm sure some do. But there are a lot of people who believe ALL Louisvillians, especially those who send their kids to private schools have this view. So a lot of Meade fans were just looking for a reason to get agitated leading up to this game. For that, I apologize.

However, I will say that some of the nicest, most sincere people I have met in this world reside in Meade County. For all of you traveling to Brandenburg on Friday I am certain that you will see that. I expect you to be greeted kindly. As long as mutual respect is shown I think you will have a fantastic time at one of the truly great places in the state to watch a football game.

That's an excellent post and one that I agree with but remember it's a two way street. Trinity people are extremely proud of their tradition and more then just a little tired of those accomiahments being downgraded by many because they are a private school. There are many that almost act like the parents of Trinity students have done something wrong by choosing to send their kids to a private school. They disparage the accomplishments by overtly (and wrongly) saying they only accomplish those things because they "follow different rules". I look for a very competitive game Friday and am looking forward to my first visit to Meade County High School.

Very nicely put.

Your third paragraph describes the type of people I spoke with when I was in Brandenburg for the Meade County/Henry Clay game just a few weeks ago. Nice folks and very supportive of their Green Wave.

It should be a great playoff atmosphere on Friday. May the best team win!

Very well put Hilltopper. This is my first post to BGP and as I continued to read the post of my fellow fans it prompted me to sign up. Friday night will be a tremendous challenge for our boys and I believe they are excited to measure themselves against the state's best program. I expect a great night of high school football and even though the banter on here is fun the boys of both teams just want to play football. They will mix it up for 4 quarters and no matter what the result will shake hands afterwards. It's two quality programs lead by class Head Coaches and that's what Friday night lights is all about!

Welcome TrueGreenwave!

A nice start to a long and fruitful career on BluegrassPreps. :)

And Manuel....right McCracken County

Ha ha yes sir, but we were the home dog and BG was 21 point favorite. Sorry, wasn't an attempt to put salt in a wound. Hey, Graves got this whole thing rolling with a win at McCracken. We have great respect for the Purples! All that aside, I looked back and I think I took your comment wrong about the Trinity/Meade game. I thought you were saying "win here and you win state". Looks like "win special teams and you win the game"?
