Very well put Hilltopper. This is my first post to BGP and as I continued to read the post of my fellow fans it prompted me to sign up. Friday night will be a tremendous challenge for our boys and I believe they are excited to measure themselves against the state's best program. I expect a great night of high school football and even though the banter on here is fun the boys of both teams just want to play football. They will mix it up for 4 quarters and no matter what the result will shake hands afterwards. It's two quality programs lead by class Head Coaches and that's what Friday night lights is all about!

 

 

I think I speak for most Rocks fans in saying we expect that this game will be a GREAT game and that we don't discount the Greenwave for one minute. Can't wait for Friday!

I've just read all 9 pages of this thread. Being a life long Greenwave, I just want to say how proud I am of my team and our facilities. I hope you feel welcome in Death Valley and have a good experience, except for the final score of course. I have the utmost respect for Trinity football. You guys are always a very good team with such a storied tradition. It will be fun to see where my county boys stack up with Trinity. I'm not going to predict a score but I promise we will play tough hard nosed old fashioned football on both sides of the ball. I hope that's good enough to come out with a victory. Justafan#85 has proven in this thread and others that he is consistently clueless on multiple issues.

 

I must say that after going to the Henry Clay at Meade County game several weeks ago and sitting on the Meade County home side, Justafan#85 is not a typical Meade County fan. I got to talk to quite a few that night and they were humble, friendly, and very knowledgable about their Green Wave and football in general.

 

Quite the contrast between the folks I spoke to at the game that night and Justafan#85.

 

Actually your original post was ridiculous. I think you said our offense was one dimensional ... Which indicates we can only do one thing. However my point was you are wrong. We are a first run team.. But we are efficient at passing as well. Then you say the passing game is primitive (really primitive)...

 

Then you say we win with defense, time of possession and by out scoring our opponents (really I thought that was the goal) (you are the one that sounds clueless). But we can't come back down 2 touchdowns against the nightly Trinity. Who says we will ever be down by 2 touchdowns or that you will even score that many. Our defense is as good if not better than X and you only scored 1 TD.

When you get to this point in the playoffs, anybody can beat anybody. By definition you are playing well. I expect Trinity to win, but the surest way to make that happen is for the coaches and players to remember that it is not a given. We have one thing we can unite around. We'll both be cheering "Go Big Green". We may change ours to "Go Real Big Green".

Can't imagine this is a tough game after 2 quarters...no disrespect to MC, but they have never seen an offense like Trinity's...Multiple formations and personnel groupings, constant front adjustments on the defensive side and a spread offense that is taught by the offensive coordinator all over the country...There is a reason Beatty hasn't lost this game in 12 tries and there is a reason 22 banners hang in Marshall Stadium...i know that sounds arrogant, but I can't remember a team that runs Wing-T staying competitive with Trinity for long...

Scott Co two years ago. Trinity scored on a screen very late in the game to pull out a win. I would think that counts as a wing-t team staying competitive for awhile.

 

Wing-t can be just a vague as the term spread. There are many different versions so you can't really lump them in together.

i am very familiar with the principles of wing-t and it's looks...I am also familiar with the MC wing-t that Mofield has been using this year...Trust me when I say that Lowe, Carolla and Foos will be very familiar names to the MC public address announcer when it is over...Beatty and Cobb have seen many wing-t offenses in Texas, Missouri and Kentucky in their 35 years coaching ball, so unless the Greenwave offense has somehow morphed into an unknown quantity with vastly superior players, I am very confident in my assessment

Didn't Nelson County run a Wing-T in 96? They were a very good team. I think Trinity wins this one.

only thing I remember about that team was Gabe Stone...that guy was a freakish athlete...

Never said your assessment was wrong. I just pointed out that the Scott Co game must of slipped memory and that wing-t could be deleware, hybrid, michigan and any number of other flavors.

I will agree that Scott Co. probably has the best wing-t offense in the state that i've seen thus far...but in the game you mentioned, they amassed a whopping 5 first downs and 0 points in the second half...their defense was tough and Trinity was without Quick and had a sick Dalyn Dawkins at RB...kudos to them for putting up the good fight...
