Just so I'm clear.

OSU just got a commit from a 3* DE from Columbus.

Does that mean he's really a 2*? If so, 2* can get offers from Ohio State?

Midwest recruits are generally graded against other midwest recruits at camps and combines, and obviously their game tape is against teams from their region. Judge those same kids against kids from the south and their ranking will slide. While a generalization, it plays out regularly on Saturdays.

What B1G teams do you think you could drop in the SEC and see them regularly win 8 games or more a year with their rosters and recruiting ground as is? Recruiting Ohio as the base is a bad strategy for UK if they want to do more than win 6 or 7 games a year IMO...

If there is one thing in the world I am not' date=' it's an Ohio State fan...[/quote']

Then you must just not like Kentucky. They are obviously improving, with 5 wins this year compared to 4 the previous two years. Not to mention their two best recruiting classes in history to boot. Kentucky isn't just recruiting Ohio, they are recruiting the south too. Ohio isn't a bad start for a young coach trying to establish a program though. Why people can't realise that you have to start somewhere I have no idea.

When they start winning 6-7 games a year recruiting the best of the best would be more feasible. Considering they are coming off back to back two win seasons, I doubt the recruits you think they should be getting to compete in the sec are beating the door down to get in. That won't change until they start winning 6+ games a year.

Nothing more to be said. Flat out disgraceful performance!

After the last three games, the (inside Wildcat program) Lexington hints seem to be getting closer to true - Drew Barker will be the starting QB next year.

Unless he can tackle we don't need him.

No qualms with Urban and who he offers. His track record speaks for itself. I'm just trying to keep up with the rules on how to grade Ohio kids. And I do like Ohio State. Don't confuse my argument that their schedule hurts them with me not being a fan. P.S. Don't try to pull one over on me and tell me Urban got the QB he wanted in last year's class. He took a chance and lost out. Fortunately' date=' JT will make it moot.[/quote']

JT at one time was the #1 ranked duel threat in the 2013 class. Who are you alluding too?

I think Watson is who he is talking about.

No. I'm talking about the QB from that class that they actually signed. Some may read JA's posts and think that Urban gets who he wants and the kids that sign with him are his #1 targets.

Then those people are crazy. He misses a lot of kids, all coaches do. It often depends on depth charts. Heck he missed on Braxton Miller to Florida, Braxton told him no. He was very high on JT who Texas said no too.

I don't care about UK football one way or the other. I am simply giving an opinion on the recruiting philosophy of Stoops to establish Ohio as the base for building a competitive SEC program. I don't think it will produce anything more than 6 and 7 win seasons in the up years and no bowl game in the down ticks. We shall see. Early returns point to me being right...

Strictly in Ohio I'd guess his success rate is off the charts...

Clyde, the current OSU staff is very arrogant when it comes to recruiting. They are very cautious and want to be very sure that their self acclaimed "sacred" offers will be accepted prior to the offer going out. They do not like to give offers without a really high percentage that said offer will be accepted. Guess they think it makes them look bad when a kid doesn't accept. Very calculated process.

Do you know Stoops well enough to tell us what his philosophy is? I agree that he is building a pipeline from Ohio, which in my opinion is a great start. But he also has brought in highly rated recruits from the south. So my point is, why do you think he is just focussing on Ohio, BIG recruits as you say? Could he possibly just be going after the best available to him at this time (like a logicall person would do) until he can get a bowl game or two under his belt before he can recruit at an sec level?

Anyone who thinks a virgin coach is going to come into Kentucky and compete with the cream of the crop in the SEC after coming of two consecutive 2 win seasons may need tk have their head checked. The logical line of thinking woukd be that yes he is recruiting Ohio well, he has also done a great job of keeping the too in state talent, in state. He has also put his foot in the door with some southern talent. Considering what he walked into, I believe most rational people would consider that a good start.

I do agree that your not going to win the SEC with Big 10 type talent. I disagree in the line of thinking that its what his master plan is. I believe he is just taking what he can get at this point, bit is still getting enough talent to win 6 games a year. Once they start winning 6 games a year, better talent will follow. This isnt basketball, it takes around 4 years to turn a program around.

Have I said anywhere that he only recruits Ohio? No. Not once. I said he is using Ohio as his base because he has said as much himself since getting the job, and the state they are landing the most kids from is.......you guessed it...... Ohio. You know what B1G teams do? Recruit their base Midwest state and try to add some speed from the south to compliment the base. That is what UK is doing to a tee at the moment. I don't see it ever working in the SEC. I'm done here...

I have often wondered that myself especially here recently. They are recruiting from B1G areas. Are the players they are taking from those areas more meant for a B1G offense scheme as opposed to the up tempo style that Brown wants to run at UK.
