Why did the Deputy say he pulled you over? Did you get a citation?

Teenagers make poor decisions every day. Teenage girls tend to live with drama and hysterics. Throw in MJ, alcohol and a car and you have a very dangerous situation. That officer had seconds to make a decision to save his life. I seriously doubt that he wanted to kill a teenage girl that night. His actions have been cleared in the investigation. Even so, I am certain this officer will never be the same, and will carry this burden for the rest of his life.

 

It is a very tragic, unfortunate situation all around. I feel for the officer and I also feel for the family of the girl.

True, I know a guy that shot someone that pointed a gun right at him. While he is confident that he did the right thing, he never forgets it either.

You don't even spend a day in jail for a first time DUI of a non aggrevated traffic stop. Crazy.

So because you were pulled over, that means you were profiled? Lol ok, whatever. Germany in 33' ? Seriously, now you are just sounded stupid, sorry but it's true. The drama kings are ridiculous when it comes to this incident. I had an idiot friend of mine tell me he had to tell his kids that the police are out looking to kill people. Nothing more ignorant than people making stupid statements to try and justify their stupid reasoning.

 

I thnk I'm hearing the worlds smallest violin playing for you. Germany of 33, that has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Do us all a favor, if it is that bad living in Boone county, then move. That's all you have to do, stay out of the county, no one is keeping you here...there isn't the Berlin wall stopping you.

 

Now as far as Samantha, she broke the law and she caused her death. May be harsh but she did it herself, no one else made her brake the law and be stupid.

She was on probation.

You make a valid point. Which raises the question: Why would officers have assumed that the victim was able to follow directions while driving a motor vehicle? Officers were warned coming in that the kids were drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana.

 

Funny you mention that. I believe that's what Deputy Brockman was concerned with, people that had been drinking and smoking pot trying to leave a party behind the wheel and put other lives at risk.

I don't know the minute-by-minute timeline ... or whether officers were letting some vehicles exit the field party and not others. Just seems that the wiser course of action might have been to block the exit road with a couple of sheriff's cruisers, then make all the young people exit their vehicles until individual driver sobriety could have been established. Perhaps that wasn't feasible because of confusion at the scene. Don't know.

 

Easier said than done when you're the first officer to arrive and people start trying to take off because they don't want to get in trouble.

What is alarming to me is the fact that the Grand Jury was allowed to be presented with a character asassination of the teen by the DA prior to making a decision to not indict. Lori Wells, an attorney who has a show on 700 WLW made a statement about how this was completely wrong. She also stated the cop could have also been charged with endangerment regarding the other individuals in the car.

 

This obviously is a tragedy, a combination of a girl who was legally drunk making a poor decision to not stop and a cop who used poor judgment in putting himself in harms way by leaping on the hood. I guess the only thing for him to do after he made that decision abd was on the hood of the moving car was to unload his clip in her. Which he did by the way. How no other people were shot is a miracle.

1. Cops put themselves in harms way all the time. It's part of the job

2. He did not unload his "clip". It was 4-5 rounds from what I've read. The weapon holds 16 rounds.

3. I don't care what that attorney said on AM radio, it was all fair for the publics opinion of the deputy to be tainted and lies to be spewed as facts from her friends. So excuse me if I don't see an issue with character witness'.
