Agreed, within the confines of teams from the same area, district, region, et al. All of which means, little travel time, having an officiating crew you are familiar with (or rate), and have the ability to draw a decent crowd yourself.

 

The Pit is a small advantage for Elder against other GCL's (Panthers always way outnumber the opponents crowd). It's huge advantage versus a Ky. school. GCL refs, if you are Trinity etc., travel becomes a factor, and so on.

 

Dixie v Campbell County home field means nothing. Elder v NKY opponent home field advantage is relevant.

 

With the thread in mind, I don't see why CovCath v any other local team would be much of a advantage. CovCath v Johnson Central, I think home field means something

I ALWAYS hated playing on Saturday afternoons. Such a drag waking up in the morning and preparing for a game when I am still asleep. Fridays you have all day long to prepare mentally and physically. I don't know. I was superstitious. Always had a routine for games on Friday. Saturdays always just threw me off that routine and just didn't like it at all. The sun is a factor that high school players never have to deal with.

It is an advantage only because they are used to playing on Sat afternoons and other teams are not. To say that isn't an advantage is false. May not be a big advantage, but still being used to certain conditions etc. is a advantageous no matter how you look at it.

Sure it is. When you play in a distrtict that one or two of the teams are an hour or two away, it is definitly an advantage to the home team that doesn't have to sit on a school bus for 2+ hours before a game....ala playing South Oldham.

I guess everyone knows that JC is turf and has been for awhile?

I do think there are some fields that are home field advantage. Here is one example. Mayfield's stadium has a high crown on it. Any passing team that goes in there will take some time to adapt. I remember the year Beechwood got beat by 38-0, virtually every sideline type pass was overthrown and I attribute part of it to the crown on the field.
