No lights at the field. They play ALL their home games on Saturday afternoons.

 

As to whether it is an advantage, I don't think it makes much difference. I think CovCath beats the teams it would normally beat whether at home or on the road and vice versa. Regarding the heat in the early fall afternoon games, both teams have to play in it.

 

Just about every other sport (and football) has to play games in the afternoons sometimes and evenings sometimes...athletes adjust...

Being perfectly honest, I didn't like playing during the day. I know many of my teammates shared the same feeling.

 

That's a sentiment that has changed over time, but you're right - most recent players that I've talked to are not terribly fond of the Saturday games. When I was playing in the 90's, though, it was our perspective that "Saturdays were OUR day." We liked it because playing on Saturday meant that we were playing on our home turf. All the same, the crowds at average Cov Cath home games on Saturdays have not been, in all likelihood, what they would be were they held on Fridays.

HHS hasn't had a problem on Saturday afternoons in quite a while.

Never had an issue with it. Coach Ray loved it during the playoffs because it gave him a chance to scout our opponent in person. With that said, Friday Nights were awesome.

I think this is generally true...but not always. The Pit is undoubtedly a home field advantage for Elder.
