Where will O.J. Mayo end up?

Featured Replies

I think O.J. and Bill wont play college ball together. Bill really likes Cincinnatti while O.J. loves Bob; but if Bob wont be coaching look for O.J to end up with Pitino and Lousiville. I can tell you that from a very relaible source. =)

I too have heard of Walker looking more at UC. Thinks he can be the Max/Hicks type player. The chance to restore UNLV might be enough for both to join in. Should be a fun year of speculation...

If he goes to a small school like Marshall and doesnt take the team far even having numbers then his stock drops. If he goes to a Big D1 school and doesnt perform or just doesnt fit in with the team's chemistry then his stock drops. The only wa he goes big if he goes to a big D1 school and takes them Great 8 or father because that way you know hes the real deal and not another Kwame Brown after going to the NBA. UNLV with Huggs is perfect for him but without Huggs ,bad choice, because Huggs will build his team around O.J. Unless he decides to go to a Duke, Kentucky or North Carolina and average BIG Numbers like the sixth man of North Carolina last year, Marvin Williams, then the NBA scouts are gona start thinking twice.

I understand that he's bypassing high school and going straight into college ball. ;)

Everyone knows this kid is great, but I am not sure is as good as Lebron was. The media wants him to be "the next Lebron" because they thrive on the hype and they need a "media darling". This helps sell papers and magazines. Don't get me wrong though, I think the kid is special. Whoever said that he shouldn't go to a smaller University due to lack of exposure is crazy. I personally think he and Walker could play at Siberia Vocational College and the media would follow them. The media is loving this whole "mid-major" thing right now anyway. As a UK fan, I would love to seem him in Lexington, but there is NO WAY he will play for Tubby. I guess he will follow Huggy-Bear. That would ensure that he gets to play exactly how he wants to. His second option is most likely at Cinci since it is close to home. Third option would probably be Louisville. It is close to Cinci and Pitino has the big reputation (although this year may set him back some).

You laugh, but I remember a dude at UGA in the mid-'80s who skipped his senior year in HS and went straight to the Bulldogs. Boy, that was weird.

I thought they weren't splitting up?

He will never be the player LeBron James is. He's just not big enough.

I thought they weren't splitting up?

That's been the story I've heard untill recently. Time will tell...

From what I've always heard it is a whole package with not only him going but Bill Walker and his coach as well. They want to go to a school that wasnt any good and make it a national championship team.

Those two aren't good enough to turn a team around that much and make them National Champion contenders. Last time I checked, it takes 5 to play, not two. If they want to make some noise in the tourney, they need to go to a school that is already pretty good.

I never said he would be, although that's just a matter of opinion. I said he was sought after as much as James was or more because he has that 1 year where is has to go somewhere to play. Either college, NBDL, Europe, somewhere.

Yes......ANY. I think if he decides to go to college, he will have the pick of the litter. With the pressure to win and win now, nobody will turn him away. You'd be crazy to turn this kid away. JMO

Princeton? Harvard? Brown? Navy? Army?

I don't think these schools would be interested. I agree with Westsider there are more schools than you would think that will steer away from any possible controversy especially with the prospect of just a single season with them.

Nice list.

How many schools in the top 25 in b-ball, will steer away from them?(even for 1 year)

IMO not many ,unless theyve already been eliminated by the pair.
