Could this be because of logistics? I'm not familiar with all the teams, that would constitute a better schedule, that are within reasonable travel.

Caldwell's defense is getting better every week. When the schedule was made last year, most all of the teams were winning teams. Murray will be the first real test for Caldwell when they travel to Murray on Oct. 17.

Haven't seen DeSales play and I won't. Just saying I can't imagine a more potent offense than Caldwell. They are giving up some points but it hasn't been a problem because they literally score on almost every possession.

 

Having said that. They will have their first loss on Halloween night at Mayfield.:Blackalien:

Honestly, it wouldn't bother me if Caldwell lost to Mayfield. Seemed like last year after Caldwell beat Mayfield, they lost their fight. I guess they thought they had already won everything there was to win with beating a team like Mayfield. I'm excited to see the game against Mayfield, it'll be a good one just like last year!

Agreed! I thought Caldwell played lousy all 3 weeks in the playoffs last year. The Tigers just got away with it against Hancock and Union.

 

I'm not sure what the solution is on the schedule thing. When the schedule was put together it looked a lot more competitive. So either Caldwell is just that good, or a lot of teams are down ... or both!

 

Adding Christian County and Fort Campbell two years ago looked like a definite step up at the time.

 

I'm also just fine with Caldwell being ranked No. 2. There was a lot of pressure last year that came with that No. 1 ranking all season.

I think the difference between this years NCC team vs last years is that a couple of the 2013 losses were very competitive. 1 point loss to Campbell and a 9 point loss to Cooper. This years team has been pretty much blown out in each game. They haven't kept a game within 2 TD's this year.

 

True but I guess it would come down to if Cooper (3-8 last year) is better this year than last. Or if Camels who lost 50-8 to Highlands last year and by 23-16 this year are better this year than last year.

ColtPride, I see you are still stung by the loss to Caldwell County two years ago, A schedule that has two five a schools and Union and Trigg County, plus Green County and Mayfield and Murray is not weak, 2a schools should not be beating 5 a schools no matter how weak they seem to be, although Mayfield has been doing it forever, pot meet kettle, Washington County, Shawnee, Fort Knox,Thomas Nelson and Southern aren't exactly setting the world on fire either, it doesn't matter where the Tigers are ranked, not really sure how a Louisville school is paying in 2a, but if we meet, the same skill players that DeSales couldn't handle are still here and better, so number 2 is fine with us.

Hardly. Why would I be stung by a game that was 2 years ago? We have won a title since then. The argument still stands. Caldwell has played a terrible schedule so far. That hasn't changed. You play one good team, in Mayfield, and you play Murray which i'm not sold on. We played Warren Central 5A #5, Still have to play #3 Cal 2A, and Bardstown this week #4 2A.

How do you not understand how a Louisville school is playing in 2A? We are a private school with 309 students. You did beat us 2 years ago. That's a fact. IMO you wouldn't have beat us last year. We were to well balanced. You might be able to beat us this year, we won't know till we play. I still like our team.

Here is two more cents worth. I believe that Desales is a legit #1 team. Until beaten they are at the top of the hill. Caldwell is a solid #2, and would pose one heck of a matchup with Desales should that come to pass. The sad part is that it will not be a state title game as it probably should be if they both reach that point. Caldwell's defense is extremely suspect, just escaping bad. The thought of skill players only playing on offense is scary. Having some of those players cover both sides of the ball would be a HUGE improvement, and one that would likely mean a state title. Anyone thinking that the defense Caldwell puts on the field now is capable of getting this team to a state title is just kidding themselves. This being the last year for most of these "skill" players to have a legit shot at a title you better start emptying the old bag of tricks. I am sure Colt fans do not think much of Murray as they came to Murray last year year and spanked them on their own field (can't say as I see it much different either). Last year during the playoffs Caldwell never gave a solid effort, and was out hustled, out played, and out coached on EVERY front and it showed glaringly against Murray.

Seriously, though, I have nothing but respect for DeSales. They battled their butts off when Caldwell played up there two years ago and then got their state championship last year. I feel bad we didn't get a Caldwell-DeSales rematch last year. Maybe this year.:thumb:
