Cheerleaders Defy School's Ban, Lead Crowd in Lord's Prayer

I think your struggle here is with Christianity in general isn't it? I don't think it's got a thing to do with other religions having their one minute.

My issue is religious people in general who think they own the moral high ground and somehow think they are entitled to subject the rest of us to their religious messages and prayers.

Volunteer, spontaneous, student led prayer is protected by the constitution. Raceland was told they could no longer have prayer before games. Now there is a "Period of silence" before the game at which time the entire Raceland crowd recites the Lord prayer. Nothing can be done to stop it, try I dare you.

I'd love to see some Muslims try to pray in this same scenario just to see if they get the same respect Christians seem to get. Keep prayer in churches and church sponsored events. Religious folks are starting to get irrational these days.

Not interested in one word a Muslim has to say at the moment...sorry PurplePride92.

Last time I read the First Amendment it guaranteed Freedom OF religion.

A couple of cheerleaders spontaneously leading a prayer is NOT Congress making a law establishing a state religion.

I am respectful of all people of faith and those that don't hold any religious beliefs likewise. It seems that those that don't have any religious beliefs are less tolerant of those that do. They demand tolerance but are the first to be intolerant.

The school prayer thing has been beaten to absolute death. I've done two cases myself at Bardstown. Student-led prayer is legal. The instrumentalities rarely make a difference. The answer to the question about if 20 religions wanted to pray, the answer is if the student led it, then yes. My cases were against FFRF out of Minnesota, even the ACLU has said they are not really interested in these anymore.

Al Jazerra was reportedly at the Harlan Co and Johnson Central game filming prayer and what each teams does about prayer. I'm not kidding either.

I disagree. I think you'd be in favor of complete squelch of any religious talk anywhere. This issue has ZERO to do with morality. And no one begged anyone to join in. You've managed to tune it out your entire life, why the difficulty now?

Just spreading the gospel like we've been instructed to do!

Isn't Al Jazerra a legitimate news organization like FOX , MSNBC , CNN and the BBC ?

Can I love this?

I was thinking the same thing.

I ain't mad. At least you're honest. :lol2:

I'm not really in favor of school-sponsored prayer in public schools, however in this case I don't think anything can be done because it was student-led. Also, let's just call it for what it is....This thread wouldn't exist if the cheerleaders practiced any religion other than Christianity.

I'd stay silent, and show them the same respect I'd appreciate if it were the other way around. Unfortunately, I think I'm in the minority.
