I have utmost respect for Refs, but don't make it sound like you did this for nothing. all those years you officiated games you also got paid.

Maybe it was below minumum wage, but if you accepted what they were willing to pay, by definition they were paying you exactly what you were worth.

If the rules say the retired official does not have to pay, then honor the rule and let them in. If not, than there is nothing to discuss.

I'm sorry but unjust don't understand the whole retired refs should get in free thing if it isn't a rule.

 

Most officials I know do it for the love of it. I do chains for the love of it, I don't get paid and don't expect to get in free for the rest of my life. I know it's a poor example but you get my drift.

 

I know for baseball, most schools are lucky if they get enough at the hate to cover the umpire fees.

I have tremendous love for the officials, or at least one in particular. They get paid for their work though and aren't owed anything. JMO.

 

Thanks for the 25 years you put in. It's definitely a job you have to love because you certainly get no love from the masses.
