Do most school schools honor officials passes for retired referees?

Featured Replies

Looks like they could honor the cards for the guys that work for 25 years? Looks like a school in Webster Co is causing a stink and will not honor the cards for the retired officials? No wonder these guys will not work the summer basketball camps and passing leagues for nothing!:isurrender::taz::eek::laugh::no:

Socialism at work.

I'm surprised the people who work the gates know the difference between a retired pass and an active pass. Most are just volunteers.

Pay the freakin' gate. Gimme a break. School has to pay the bills somehow. If the 5 bucks breaks you up cut out the 2 hotdogs at the concession stand. Good lord.

The line of people who are entitled to get in free is a line that never ends.

Honestly, I would have to agree with Doc. If you are retired, pay the money. Heck, you got paid for all of those 25 years' worth of games, right?! Mr. lawildcat is an official and rarely, if at all do we use his pass.

At the same time, most of the officials I know are extremely dedicated professionals that put so many hours (that they do not get paid for) into their vocation and after 25 years of service they deserve some perks.

Maybe the larger issue is school funding, funding for athletic programs, etc.

In short, I think this practices like these are fruit of the poisonous tree.

When I saw the thread title, I just knew if you chimed in this was going to be your response. :lol2:

Give them a free hot dog and cup of coffee.... if they ever made a major call that went in the home team's favor give them free admission only then :D

Pay the mo ey unless you are working the game.

Many schools have senior prices that may e the retired refs could

pay which is usually the same as the student price.

Fork over the 3 bucks.

Exactly because when we all take a long hard look around, the line should start and end with ME :)

I always like it when a team comes to your local to play and they bring 48 coaches, but there are only 5 coaches on the sideline and 3 on top of the press box.

Wait until Ryle shows up at your place. I mean there are something like 70 dads

Ok, just kidding but couldn't resist.

No love on this site for the refs? Gusee they will have to pay for the work they put out for 25 years?

I have tremendous love for the officials, or at least one in particular. ;) They get paid for their work though and aren't owed anything. JMO.

Thanks for the 25 years you put in. It's definitely a job you have to love because you certainly get no love from the masses.
