Didn't we have a couple of people in the Mt Healthy post game thread commenting on some of the coaching in that game?

 

And I will say this in public this time, I emailed a couple of people last year about it. A number of the players do not like the situation, I'll just leave it at that.

So who do the Old Faithful realistically want to see on the sidelines.......

There are a lot of schools that would be 0-2 had they played Mt. Healthy and Dixie, including every 1a school in the state not named Mayfield. Appears it's piling on time for old school haters, not old school beechwood folks.

I've said this before. All parents need to support the program. Starting with the coach. You can't sugarcoat anything. If the team played poorly, don't say its OK, you were really not supposed to win. That only builds acceptance for mediocrity.

 

Support what your coach is trying to build. Encourage your kid to work harder, become more athletic.

 

Negative comments toward the coach at home will destroy the TEAM on the field.

I dont have a dog in the fight. I understand there is a gold standard at BW. I think BW set the standard for a lot of programs. So now maybe other teams have raised their level of play. Maybe other teams have invested more time, money, and work into trying to become the Gold standard.

 

One thing that puzzles me that people sometimes think that teams are just going to sit around and let BW, Mayfield, Highlands, Trinity, and others just kick the dog snot out of them each year.

 

It is also funny when those that lose to these types of teams all the time complain about an advantage I hear people say - You need to coach harder, work hard, do things better. Now these other teams are doing what those upset about tell them to do and look at the result. Dont get mad - just work harder, support harder, cheer harder.

 

I wish BW and the staff nothing but the best. They will get it done and I think its great that people are upset only means they care. But becareful not to rub off on the kids they dont deserve it.

So some old timers weren't happy with the Dixie loss? Really? Gosh, I thought everyone went home after the Dixie game, called their old classmates and said those Tigers are the greatest. :sarcastic:

 

Seriously, if there were one Beechwood fan, coach or player that had anything good to say after the Dixie game, they have their standards set too low. I am glad to see so many upset at that loss. Like Buddy said above, these games are played to get the Tigers ready for a state title run. That Dixie game revealed a lot about the team and will help them prepare for Frankfort, Mayfield and whoever else the Tigers might meet in the playoffs. I am glad to hear people were upset. I was upset. But everyone's eyes should be on the prize at the end of the road and know this game will help the Tigers when they get there.

You can 0-2 and still be a good team. Did the team compete? Good coaching? The ole eyeball test. Those are some of things that let you know if your on track. I have no idea if BW is on track but by these threads it don't look good or you got a bunch of whiners.

It taught me so much to constantly be the underdog and have to fight for what I wanted. They don't schedule teams like Dixie and these big schools for wins. It's a measuring stick. So continue to rip on Beechwood all you want, but I for one, would like to say no matter who we play, no matter the record, no matter how big our boys are, no matter who is coaching, I will ALWAYS support the Beechwood Tigers.[/quote'] well put.

I think Cov Cath starting a middle school football program has helped them and hurt BW. All the kids used to play for the Spartans before the Middle School Program at Cov Cath started.

I agree with what you just posted. I was trying to say the same thing. The Old School guys, whoever they are whether they be players from the 90s or before still expect Beechwood to not just schedule, or compete w/ the Dixie's of NKY. They expect a win. Problem is, those programs, for numerous reasons are WAAAYYYY better now than in the early 90s. NewCath is having and will have the same issue. 6A isn't the same as the old 4A minus Boone. These teams have invested a ton into their facilities, and many of them invest just as much time in offseason training and inseason preparation. It is what it is.

NewCath's present success is a direct result of trying to figure Beechwood out. Yeagle's run forced NewCath to adjust EVERYTHING about the program. I would argue that the win in '00 playoffs was NewCath's biggest in program history. That's a compliment to what Beechwood had for all of those seasons, it forced a tradition to reassess and work harder.

My question is: If they are not happy with the coaching staff there, then who do they want? That coaching staff regularly makes it to the semi-finals or regional finals of the state playoffs. A lot of teams only wish they could do that.

 

So if they are not happy with those results, who, especially around this area, is going to take over and right the ship so to speak? (I don't think there will be a coaching change, but this question is a what if it does happen)

Beechwood has a good group of athletes who should have success and do well. We're week three and many of you are carrying on as if they didn't make the playoffs and we're in week 11!

I would imagine that this is a point of major concern. This group of Juniors has had that "Golden Generation" tag on it since pee wee. Many were key players last season as Sophomores. With that experience and success that young, they were supposed to restore the roar so to speak, and it hasn't gone like it did in 1991.

Just about every A team in the state goes to the playoffs. Getting to the playoffs is not what they are playing for.
