OK, I must be having a senior day because I'm not following here. And once again my attempt at sarcasm to be funny....just wasn't. I have the UTMOST respect for BOTH programs, honest.

 

I'm guessing that guys who wanted to play football for a successful program like Beechwood paid the out of district tuition which would be a lot less than CovCath. Maybe now those families cannot afford that BW OOD tution today. Those who can afford it are probably choosing CovCath. I'm guessing that is why I read CCH's enrollment numbers were up. Sorry for my real sad attempt at sarcasm.

 

By the way, I'm on medication for a real bad back..........maybe my brain is frying.

Maybe Beechwood is a little like Ryle. Some parents get a little jingle in their pocket and they think they run the place.

I think that at Beechwood (cant speak for other schools) the coaches puts lots of pressure and demands on the kids. I feel like the parents are okay with this; however, they MAY feel, that if you are going to do this to my teenager, well then there will be pressure on you to win. Just my opinion.

He had been the poster boy for Beechwood, and the Dr. Bishop had been one of the folks hanging that poster up all around town...and then Bishop turned around and sued him for putting his son on the field like he had asked. Absolutely crushing for Yeagle. Not really pertinent to the thread, but it still ticks me off.

Ticks everyone off. Convenient that the lawsuit came after his son started for 2 years and didn't earn that DI look that everyone thought was coming. Punk move.

...and I get 'beat on' on BGP for saying anything negative about the program. I guess I'm not the only one.

This is interesting that we are seeing this posted only 2 games in. Usually all hell breaks loose at the end of the season and has time to die out before the new season starts.

 

I have said a million times that Bw's coaching is a major reason for their failures while at the same time Mayfield has raised their game. With Mayfield bringing a end to the flow of titles I would also imagine that the Beechwood reputation has suffered. Kids who before would want to go win titles at Beechwood now consider all the other options.

 

I watched Mayfield dive into a similar situation. Back in good ole 2A things had been rolling right along and along came Danville who routinely took out the Cards. At first the games were close and could have gone either way then the Ads begin to win with authority some of the time. There were a few titles and all the Mf teams were close to the top much like Bw has been recently but Mf football was not what it had been. It got worse beginning in 2003 through 2008 we were at a all time low. Looking back at it is was clear that the Cards Old School ways were not working and in 2009 we unveiled a more modern offense and we have never looked back. I see the same problems haunting Bw today. I realize Rash is trying to change but he does not seem to be good enough at it to get Bw back. Anyway, that is how it looks to me from afar. By default things should get 1,000 times better next year with Mf moving back to 2A
