I think guru is just trying to lure you into sharing your opinion with us. He wouldn't ever expose anyone...that's one of our most strictly enforced rules here on BGP. I think he's just busting at the seams to hear what the Beechwood crowd has to say about the current state of affairs in the football program, and it sounds like he feels that your identity, whatever it is, puts you in a position to have a very well developed opinion on things.

Fans need to realize that Dan Wooley, Shannon Huth, Brandon Berger, and Jeff Lubrecht aren't walking through that door. They just aren't as big as they used to be. Going to turf killed Beechwood. Their success derived from big athletic lines, a thunder and lightining approach in the backfield and just enough trickery to keep teams honest. Teams caught up and passed them. Turf has rendered the bad weather of the playoffs almost null and void. On top of all that, Beechwood seems to have lost all of its size. They have had some smallish teams, physically speaking.

 

Now, taking this long to come to grips with the forward pass should fall on Rash's shoulders, but it isn't exactly like Yeagle was going to become the Mike Leach of Ft. Mitchell had things worked out for him personally.

 

Not 100% sure but this line might be the biggest since the 2007/2008 seasons.

 

Looking back at the 2007/2008 seasons, the toughest games on the schedule were Cov Cath and New Cath toward the middle and end of the season. Both years they opened with Dixie but Dixie wasn't "Brossarts" Dixie. Those teams had a chance to get on their feet before the big games. This years Tigers started with 2 tough games. I'm waiting to judge this team. I still think there is huge potential.

I think that 90% of the teams in this state would love to have Beechwoods problems.

Its simple. BW has depended upon out of district talent for a long time. Those kids are now staying, or even moving to, SK, Dixie and Scott. There is no room for population growth and little room to expand the school. Those that are the most serious abut FB are going to Cov Cath. We have not heard of any FB transfers to BW in at least 2 years.

I'm not sure what you mean by legitimate. Kenton County schools have become more effective at retaining and attracting athletes. Turf stadiums have been put it. Indoor strength training and indoor field houses for foul weather practice. This has squeezed the flow of out of district athletes to Beechwood.

Question here, should Beechwood really be beating teams like Dixie, CCH, HHS, or SK for that matter? I mean they are a small 1A school. You didn't see people calling for Dale's head when HHS's lost to Elder or even Wirth's head when he loses to Moe or any other GCL team? That's because they are not suppose to win those games. Every once in awhile they win just like Beechwood wins a big one every now and then. The restless natives need to get over themselves for those type games. Now all the other stuff, well there seems to be some serious issues there. This is like when CCH went through those dark years when the parents thought it was coaching and it was just that little Jimmy and Joey just were not good enough or there just weren't enough J & J's.

For one team to rise.... another must decrease.

 

For CCH to rise, NewCath must decrease.

For Simon Kenton to rise, other NKY teams must decrease.

For Campbell County to rise, even mighty Highlands must decrease.

For Cooper and Conner to rise, Ryle and Boone must decrease.

 

Beechwood used to be the program parents moved their kids into at early ages.... now those programs are elsewhere.

 

Finite talent can only be dispensed a finite amount.

......but, these are the reasons (factual at that)...that most don't want to hear. Especially those who have never been anywhere else & look through the world with blinders on. (cough, cough..diehard UK basketball fans. "Oh snap!! Others have figured out how to play basketball?! Say it aint so Toto!"

State Semis every year since except for 13 when they made it to the region finals.

 

They've started off the 14 season 0-2.

As I've said addressing the Sheldon Clark and Taylor County in season coaching changes this week.....people wonder why there have been 40 coaching changes per year each of the last 5 (and, it isn't going to be slowing down anytime soon, either). Bull like this, maybe on smaller scales, but nonetheless. People are getting smart, really quick and realizing 5-10K isn't enough to deal with crap like this (which I'm sure is just the tip of the iceberg). Crap...as in fans calling for a coaching change.

The big inaccuracy in the thread is concerning out of district students. There are more out of district students on this team than there were on the 2011 team.

 

Beechwood is consistently rated one of the top 5 schools in Kentucky and in the top 500 in the United States. The last I saw, tuition for out of district students is only about $3,500. There is a great small school we can do anything culture making Beechwood a bargain that can't be beat for anyone looking for a great education and high school experience. There are many more out of district students who don't play football than there are who do. Property values stay high in Ft. Mitchell in large part because of families moving into the district for the school, and most of those families aren't football player families.

 

The Dixie loss was definitely disappointing. I can understand people being upset and sounding off after that game. All the complaints I heard are comments about how the team got beat so badly at the line of scrimmage. However, I am not part of the old school Beechwood crowd, whoever that is. Maybe I should make my first visit to the Saddle Club and see if I can find a couple of those people to hear their views.

Alright, obviously times have changed. Players aren't transferring, we are smaller, blah blah blah. I played for these coaches. They were some of the greatest people I have ever met. As players, we knew these big schools, tough schools on our schedule were going to be tough to hold our own against before we stepped foot on the field. This isn't a matter of win or lose. This is a matter of getting prepared for the playoffs to go out and win in our own class. I don't see Dayton, Ludlow, Bellvue and all these other 1A schools playing Dixie, Cov Cath, Mt. Healthy etc. etc. This is high school football. Say what you want about the coaching and such. But just know this is more than a game. It taught me so much to constantly be the underdog and have to fight for what I wanted. They don't schedule teams like Dixie and these big schools for wins. It's a measuring stick. So continue to rip on Beechwood all you want, but I for one, would like to say no matter who we play, no matter the record, no matter how big our boys are, no matter who is coaching, I will ALWAYS support the Beechwood Tigers.

Oh, and if the "Old School" Beechwood natives are getting restless.....STAY HOME.

A loss to Holy Cross this weekend will make the natives restless!
