USC's Josh Shaw saves nephew from drowning & will be out

Featured Replies

Well, I've lost faith in humanity... SMH

@HeatherBrit: Sources: Josh Shaw involved in domestic abuse incident & jumped off 3rd story window while running from LAPD. #USC

I guess his statement should read......"I would do it again for whatever police department it was, it did not have to be the LAPD," Shaw said on Monday.

How do people think they can just completely fabricate a story like this these days and no one is going to look into it and blow up your lie all over social media? Dumb.

I'll reserve comment until we actually see what happened.

Don't bother, even though that is very right-minded of you. This guy is a clown of the highest order.

He has admitted the lie. The school issued a press release. Poor effort.

Not so fast my friends.

Well there you go, you can't argue with that.

I hate being a bottle half empty kinda guy. When I heard this story all I could help but think was either elaborate story or he had a few too many to drink and jumped from a balcony completely missing the pool then made it up as they went.

Not so fast my friends.

Read something similar earlier and laughed then too. Both should carry this with them for at least a decade, then randomly by sportscasters from time to time just to remind kids(young adults) not to be DUMB.

Drove back from Houston to San Antonio late night/early morning and heard ESPN mention this full story no less than 3 times. Here is what ESPN is reporting:

He's hired a criminal defense attorney.

Police mention his name in the report, but not as a suspect.

His attorney says he "fell off a balcony".

His attorney was asked why he would hire an attorney, to which the attorney replied, "smart people hire attorneys".

None of his teammates or family members seemed to jump in and say, "yea... way to go, what a heroic act". Commentators seemed to infer from the fact that there wasn't more mention and/or confirmation by others as reason to believe that they were skeptical of his story (this incident occurred at a downtown LA apartment complex, in his initial version of the story, it was in a different town).

Shaw is the only senior CB on the roster. Other than he and another junior who was expected to start, the remaining 6 are freshmen.

The last fact leads me to believe that if there's a way they can keep him, they're going to try it because they know they'll probably need him.
