Didn't really see it lined as such, but I'm assuming that's a track that's surrounding the field? I know a lot of schools do that, so that they can make it a multiple-sport facility...but, I like the fields where the fans are seemingly right on top of the benches.

How long ago did Magoffin start their football program? The turf looks great. Good luck to them this season!

 

They have been around for a fairly long time. Just for the better part of their history have struggled with numbers and overall support. They had a couple nice teams in the 90's with a QB named Michael Caba during the Air Raid days. Chester McCoy really helped elevate their program in his tenure and by giving stability. Last year was their first ever time hosting a home playoff game. The new coach seems to be picking up where Chester left off.

 

Magoffin used to be in Belfry's district a few years back and have also travelled to Belfry in the 1st Round of the playoffs a few times. The Hornets have always carried themselves with a lot of class on the field and always played with a ton of heart.

 

One of those programs that is trying their best to build with limited resources and a program that is easy to pull for when things do go well.

Nice looking facility. At first glance it reminds me of a couple of "mountain" fields. Rockcastle County comes to mind.

That is a pretty dang sweet field. I love how the end zone has the bowl effect with the hill. We have a team here in Georgia that comes running out of the woods. It's can be intimidating when they're good.

I've noticed Magoffin County has gradually been getting better. It was nice to see them host a playoff game last year. Magoffin benefited in the most recent cycle from an easier district and because of that they had some success, got some more players, generated fan interest, and obviously picked up a great new facility. Their program is definitely trending upward.

I guess he was an alright guy in hindsight but perhaps he was in over his head at a young program. I remember just getting destroyed 65-0, etc. The last game of the season we had 11 players who played iron man football. I have some good stories. I'm debating whether I should share or not lol.

The Clarke Central Gladiators in Athens. They used to be a power house in the 70s, 80, and early 90s but they fell on hard times. They've come back somewhat the past few years.

I have not taken full advantage of the scene down here for football. I am surrounded by great teams and literally can walk right now to Norcross HS it is so close.
