August 10, 201412 yr Stewart has always been short fused. Watching the video you can hear his engine rev before he hits him which caused the rear end to drift. That wasn't swerving. No doubt in my mind he was trying to intimidate the kid and tragedy struck. Both parties were negligent in this incident. Hopefully this puts an end to the antics we see on track with drivers jumping out of their cars and acting a fool. Can't give a crazy angry person a chance..

August 10, 201412 yr Always thought Tony was a scum bag. He totally revved up his engines as he was trying to pass Ward, which caused his car to hit him. He may have meant to intimidate the young man, but instead he left him dead. If you listen to the video, it sure sounds like he revs his engine and speeds up. Stewart has always been short fused. You guys realize that there are maybe 20 cars on the track with almost all of them closer to the camera than Stewart's car was...no way you can say the car heard revving was Stewart's on the other side of the track when it could have easily been a car on the camera side of the track or even behind Stewart some where. I don't know if he accelerated or not, but there is no way you can attribute that sound to his car when there are many others also on the track still driving and moving at the time.

It's not uncommon for those cars to accelerate even under caution either...
August 10, 201412 yr I think Tony revved it up to fish tail to throw dirt on the guy and at the same time the other driver was trying to get close enough to smack the car as it went by.
August 10, 201412 yr Author Isn't this a perfect example of why eye witnesses are unreliable? I think unreliable is too strong of a word but I do think that there are a lot of factors that come into play in an eyewitness testimony.

August 10, 201412 yr If a car fishtails wouldn't that indicate acceleration has taken place? Can you see a fishtail in that video, I can't. I think 2C nailed what probably happened very closely. Car in front of Stewart swerved to miss him leaving him right in front of Stewart. Stewart tries to swerve and hits him with his large rear wheel.

August 10, 201412 yr If a car fishtails wouldn't that indicate acceleration has taken place? Not necessarily. It's a dirt track, not pavement. And from what I've heard these sprint cars are very loose.
