This is was apparently written by a Police Officer working in Ferguson during the riots/looting/protesting. I don't believe he is a Ferguson Officer or St. Louis County Officer...but it sheds some light from the police side of things. It's long, but interesting.

This has been my thought as soon as I heard people complain about the release of the video and am glad someone said something.

 

This letter did a much better job of conveying my feelings than I could have.

Color is insignificant. 6'4 300 and his friend unknown size but I'm sure he's not a dwarf and you being probably 5'10 or smaller, can be beat to death

 

Yes I know color is insignificant but in this case I'm talking about the guy killed and he was black and was that big.

The story that I read regarding the autopsy only shows a wound to the eye area and one to the top of the head. I don't think anyone's idea of the forehead extends to the top of the head.

Agree 100% if he wasn't armed he shouldn't of been shot. Cop should be prosecuted. My point was just reading the article and people making him out to be a saint. If he shop lifted then I'm not buying it. Just a terrible situation.

 

Agreed. Kids make bad decisions . Most of them shouldn't end fatal. If story is true sounds like a nervous itchy trigger finger . I just hope no riots happen.

 

Was the kid shoplifting? Obviously even if he was, the shooting was uncalled for if he was unarmed. But at the same time if he was shop lifting he wasn't exactly an innocent bystander either.

Story coming out today in San Antonio. An off-duty police officer shot an unarmed black teen in the back at ChaCho's. For those of you unfamiliar with Texas, ChaChos is like the Waffle House kind of place where everyone goes when the bars close. I'm thinking that the officer there was moonlighting as "security" for the place.

 

DA hasn't pressed charges yet and the coroner has been holding onto the findings pretty closely. Ironically enough, the off duty officer was once suspended from the force for 45 days for... wait for it... appearing to be visibly intoxicated and shouting racial epithets at patrons of a restaurant where he was moonlighting and working security. Sounds like a great dude.

 

Everytime I hear a Hispanic person drop an N-Bomb down here, I just shake my head. I actually pressed a Hispanic kid I went to school with on why he'd say that once, and he told me that "blacks have a reputation for committing crime, abusing social systems, and are involved in gangs". Oh the irony. At that point, I just shook my head because he is so defensive about Latino rights and the conversation was really pointless.

Maybe it's just me, but with everything going on in America right now, I think it's fair to say we have some housecleaning of our own to do and need to have things in order before we go sticking our noses in other countries' business. That's just my personal opinion though.

Now if that is true (Couldn't read the article because I wasn't filling out the free trial garbage) then the police dept has a serious problem if they knew an idiot like that was on the force and still kept him.

 

Now there is somewhere Al Sharpton can take his butt to and do his thing. That sounds like a legit problem if true, more so than Ferguson.

If I lived in Ferguson I would be inside my house watching it play out on tv. No way would I or any of my kids be outside in any of that. Day time protesting? Go for it. When the sun goes down, we're all coming inside the house. I'm not saying I agree with everything the cops are doing but why put yourself in that situation when it can be avoided?

"Three years before shooting a black man to death outside a Northeast Side restaurant, a San Antonio police officer was suspended for 45 days for reportedly trying to fight African-American patrons of another eatery where he worked security.

 

Robert Encina was off duty and appeared drunk when he targeted black customers and yelled obscenities at others during the April 2010 incident at a Mama Margie's on the Northwest Side, a San Antonio Police Department internal affairs report states.

 

That incident, together with allegations that Encina harassed African-Americans at Chacho's and Chalucci's on Perrin Beitel Road while working a side security job there, shows he had an animus toward minorities and raises questions about his credibility, according to a lawyer suing the city on behalf of the family of Marquise Jones.

 

Encina shot Jones, 23, in the back while in the drive-through area of Chacho's on Feb. 28, according to a federal lawsuit filed Friday. The suit, which also names Encina and Chacho's as defendants, gives an account that is far different from the official version provided by SAPD."

 

 

That's the relevant part of the article. The deceased guy's family has one hell of a federal lawsuit on their hands. That's the first four paragraphs of an article about the "law enforcement officer" who shot him. No way the guy should have been employed and the taxpayers are going to be feeling it for the SAPD's stupidity (and/or nepotism) in this one. If that guy were anything BUT SAPD (or a rich Texas kid with affluenza), he'd be looking at a Texas death row already.

 

San Antonio Police Department is in shambles right now from a PR standpoint.

 

There's also the small matter of one of the local precinct's officers being found dead outside of a tattoo parlor. He had ties to the Mexican Mafia. A colleague had reported his suspicions of involvement in the gang and the colleague who was the whistleblower was the one who ended up suspended. The precinct in question had a lot of explaining to do when the local news pulled up the murdered officer's Facebook page and found pictures of him with a 13 ray sun tattoo with "13" in the middle (a widely known Mexican Mafia symbol) as well pictures of him with Michigan 'M' gear and tons of other ties that make it fairly obvious that this guy was in pretty deep.

If I lived in Ferguson I would be inside my house watching it play out on tv. No way would I or any of my kids be outside in any of that. Day time protesting? Go for it. Their story: they'd just left a protest. Ironically enough, of 13 people arrested for curfew violations that night, something like 7 to 9 were protestors.
