As a St. Henry grad and former player, it baffles me that the condition of the ballfield continues to decline. Do we not remember Fox field, folks?! In fact, the Reds were supposed to host a fantasy camp game there this past Saturday but the game was rained out. I asked a St. Henry official how it could be rained out when the school has a tarp? He replied they never use it because it's too much work and they don want to run the risk of killing the grass if they don't get enough help to remove it. Sad.

 

That's another reason why I hope they hire someone with experience. It takes years to learn how to properly maintain a field and how to do it. Proof of that is how it has deteriorated during this carousel of coaches. As far as the field tarp goes, that's embarrassing. I've seen high school teams put-on and takeoff full infield tarps in under fifteen minutes. There's no excuse. I'm sure there are hundreds of schools that would kill to have that tarp. It use to be a prerequisite that to host a sectional tournament you had to have a full infield tarp, and I think that is originally why they got it. It has the potential to be one of the better fields around but you can't leave it alone for 7 months out of the year and expect it to magically be the same when you come back on it. Details is what makes great programs and details we do not have right now.

I was under the impression that Graue was a baseball guy? Also, didn't Gish use to coach baseball? You'd think it'd have some sort of focus from them? Hiring people bc their name is known in northern KY doesn't seem to be working. I say its time to widen Graue's horizon with a better hire. There has to be a young experienced successful coach that would want the Saint Henry job?

I don't know the man. Had to look him up. Seems like he has something to do with Cru-cutters.

If he was in charge of the event, and asked the school that he was running an event and would send out his cru to get the field prepped and tarp in place etc., and the school told him "no", then that's on St.Henry. Otherwise, it would sound like a poorly organized event.

Spot on Just Jim, not sure how many guys on here have dealt with a tarp but its not an easy task. That's why most summer teams don't use them often. Surely not for a pickup game of old timers.

I haven't heard anything new. I don't think that's necessarily bad. Maybe they're taking their time and trying to actually get the "right" person. Not sure who that person is, but they're worth the wait. Get it right St. Henry!

Coaching search has been narrowed to 2 candidates. One clear cut leader. One final interview for both candidates. Administration has spoken to one of the current varsity coaches who remains mum about the candidate. More later.

He could be one of the finalist as he was when Coach Schmidt was hired. I wish they would have hired him. He has problems with being a basketball coach there and the seasons overlapping somewhat. My source told me the person he knows about is not Grimme but would not divulge the name of the one he knows about. Heard rumblings that the most of the staff wanted Schmidt gone. Will post some very interesting stuff after the hire is done. I do not want to adversely effect who they get. My source says he knows the person that is the leader and is very happy of the choice if it happens.
