I thing what Hog is trying to say is that where is the oversight from the dioceses. The turnover has been going on for awhile, shouldn't they be looking into why?

There is never anybody stopping you from using a good old fashioned rake and edger. Pull some some weeds, level things out, take care of your dirt and grass, clean things up, etc etc.. You'd be surprised how far that will go. As far as moving a fence and things of that nature, while it may be wanted, it certainly has no bearing on having a good looking field.

 

Well I guess it would have no bearing on a good looking basketball court if they were shooting into peach baskets or the soccer team were using pylons instead of nets for goals.

For those who didn't know (like myself), it looks like the assistant athletic director, Tony Harden, is the Girls' cross country head coach & girls' indoor & outdoor track & field head coach.

What in the world are you talking about? The St Henry Baseball coach carousel and the lack of football players at Bishop Brossart doesn't start with the Bishop- and I have no idea what kind of turmoil your talking about at NCC and Cov Cath.

 

From my perspective as a St Henry parent and from my opinions formed from parents of former students, the administration - and athletic administration- does very little to promote or improve their sports outside of Girls Volleyball, Track and Field and Cross Country. They are completely content to stay the status quo. It's frustrating to me as a parent and a competitor - at a time when Catholic schools are fighting for tuition dollars and crossing parish lines to get those dollars, St Henry doesn't seem to want to separate themselves and give something unique to offer.

 

Listening to Otte at the Frosh orientation, I have to tell you was completely uninspiring- it was sort of like, "Well, there are a lot of choices you could make for a Catholic education, and St. Henry is one of them...". If the die hadn't been cast and our child didn't already have their heart set on the school that speech would have turned me away.

 

Lastly- the whole way the Brian Coburn firing as girls basketball coach was completely ridiculous. Another case of parents with clout in the right places getting an audience when they had no business doing so. Another admin goof IMO. Everyone has moved on, Coach Sturgeon is doing a fine job and Coach Coburn is now at Villa- but that whole episode was a prime example of some of the silliness.

Wasn't there issues at Covcath when the current super was the principal? Then at Newcath and Brossart during remodels? I'm not sure. Going only by what I've read on here. I've never spent any time with the superintendent and he wasn't around when mine were in grade school. I'm just asking if when he gets inolved thats when the trouble starts? And wouldn't good leadership bring more stability and less of these type discussions.

The only issues at NewCath is not winning the boys 9th Region Tournament the past 4 years. :irked:
