I can tell you from personal experience, the judicial system and KHSAA are not tune with one another. As a matter of fact, they're at odds more often than not. I heard from one judge personally who said "the organization has no oversight". Ponder on that one for a second.

Wow...talk about a biased statement. I would guess that if anything involving the KHSAA came before him where they had taken some sort of action, he would just strike it down/slap an injunction on it regardless of the situation?

No, just the opposite. Injunctions are granted with ease because of this, not the reverse.

The man does a lot for the kids in the community. He does four weeks of summer camps for kids K-8th and hasn't charged a fee in two years. I know some HS coaches who charge upwards of $70-$80 for two or three day camps. He gets hundred of campers each session. I'm sure he's always been a nice guy, but the loss of his son has really changed him. Watched it first hand. He knows the type of impact he can have on a young person. I really respect that about him.

I don't think that anyone has implied anything to the contrary. People recognize that Hicks is a good guy and does a lot in the community. Knowing what I know about him, I personally wouldn't have a problem if I had a child who was set to play for him. I could say the same for a lot of other coaches, but I don't think anyone has called Hicks into question when it comes to things like character and goodwill in the community.

I think because of the Cordia situation the KHSAA will be looking at every potential transfer closer than they have been. It's going to be a lot harder to move around.

I could be wrong but I can see the KHSAA scrutinizing things with a bigger magnifying glass in the immediate future. Either way if my kid was going to be transferring I'd be making sure that I really have all my ducks in a row.

Who came from Georgia or Florida?

 

Jordan Tribble from Florida. He actually played with Chris Walker who is with UF while in Florida. He transferred into their (Holmes County) from somewhere else (possibly Georgia not sure) so that could be who they are talking about. The other person mentioned here many times is Raekwon Long from Charlotte. Tribble improved greatly while at Scott County, but isn't the type of player a coach would seek out over several states to "RECRUIT". I think Coach Hicks' program and Scott County sells itself. There is a school in Florida that has one of the best coaches in the state and is one of the best programs in the state that gets transfers regularly, but they don't recruit them and they turn down many many more than they get for academic reasons. Coach & school/program sells itself which I think happens at places like Scott County.

Not implying anything about Whitaker. Hicks was referring to the #1 team in each sport having a target on its back. Hicks seems to think Harrison County is a baseball powerhouse --like Trinity in football--and they are not.

 

Harrison is a baseball powerhouse, so what "Rock" have you been hiding under? LOL 4 State Championships in the past 21 years with an enrollment of maybe 900 students. And, they compete in a sport that doesn't break down their championships by class.

I have never understood why our countries freedoms don't extend to the schooling of our children. I get the need for boundaries, but if you care about sports enough to move to a new community so your child can play for that coach, so be it.

fact that students attend schools to receive an education fi rst,

and participate in athletics second;

school student should live at home with parents or custodian
