August 6, 201412 yr Plumlee doesn't start for the Nets yet he is the best option for team USA? Jason Kidd must feel stupid right now, he had no idea what he had on his bench. Could be why the Nets let him go on to Milwaukee.
August 7, 201412 yr Could be why the Nets let him go on to Milwaukee. Could be but my guess is he will ride the pine for the next coach unless the Nets hire K
August 7, 201412 yr I wonder how Paul Milsap feels getting cut so quick. Call him in as emergency fill in then cut him first and keep Plumlee. This Plumlee thing is just to funny.
August 7, 201412 yr The point of that was the fact that he failed to get back on defense after the play because he was too busy punching the wall pad. I'm thinking at this point of their lives the Team USA coaches shouldn't have to tell anyone to get back on defense. Well, they won't tell them that. They'll just cut them for someone who does get back on defense. Anyone who has ever coached a sport at any level has likely coached a kid loaded with talent who is simply not a good fit for the team. Some people aren't worth the headache and IMO if Cousins is cut that is what happened in this situation. We aren't talking about the most mature and emotionally stable player in the NBA. That shouldn't be forgotten. And there's still no explanation for Drummond or a handful of other bigs over Plumlee. I'm not saying they should take Cousins, just that there has to be tons of guys better suited than Plumlee. I won't be for Team USA if they take Plumlee over Cousins. I won't be against them, but I won't be for them either. I'm not going to emotionally invest in a team when it's obvious that the coach is more worried about fitting his own guys into roles than he is taking the talent. For my investment, no, I'm not going to care if Plumlee gets thrown into the mix against Spain when one of our bigs gets in foul trouble, or worse, hurt and then gets abused and that's why we lose. If that decision is taking Aldridge, Drummond, or someone actually worthy of the discussion over Cousins, then no, it isn't the same conclusion. If it's Plumlee though, then there's no defending that.

If it's Plumlee though, then there's no defending that. That's weak, Joker. Did you root for the Dream Team when MJ and Pippen refused to play for Team USA if Isiah Thomas was on the team? Aldridge isn't there and Drunmond looked horrible last Friday. No way should Drummond have even made the last cut. He should already be gone. I wouldn't take Drummond over Plumlee or Cousins based on how the scrimmage went last week. I love how how all the BGP armchair coaches all of a sudden know more than Coach K and the Team USA coaching staff. You guys missed your calling. :lol2: :lol2:
August 7, 201412 yr I won't be for Team USA if they take Plumlee over Cousins. One of the biggest over-reactions I've seen on here in some time... Yikes.

August 7, 201412 yr One of the biggest over-reactions I've seen on here in some time... Yikes. I've heard these kind of remarks from UK fans for years, they would cheer for the Taliban over Duke or K,etc. and so on and so forth. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone
August 7, 201412 yr If Plumlee hadn't played for Duke, this would be almost a non-issue. Predictable, really. I like role players such as Plumlee, and understand that someone with his skill set could be a benefit to the team. That being said, if he hadn't played for Coach K, he wouldn't even be there, which is the rub for many.
August 7, 201412 yr If Plumlee hadn't played for Duke, this would be almost a non-issue. Predictable, really. Would he have been invited to camp if he didn't play at Duke? Hard to imagine that a back up is better than 20+ starting American Centers currently in the NBA...but in fairness to Plumlee maybe everyone of them were invited and turned down the invite.
August 7, 201412 yr If Plumlee hadn't played for Duke, this would be almost a non-issue. Predictable, really. While the UK fan base is silly and rabid, I think you are way off base with this one. Unless you are talking about a national reaction regarding Plumlee going to Duke then I see your point; but, I do not think that is what you are alluding to. This blew up on twitter last week when the news broke from Brian Windhorst (not Matt Jones) and it floored A LOT of national pundits and fans. This was not confined to the Bluegrass State.
August 7, 201412 yr And I have stated my position multiple times on Cousins so you guys know where I stand. I would not put either on the team but that is just me.

Few things... Plumlee showed a lot of promise last season. People keep citing his stats as a rookie as if that was indicative of his entire year or short career, but he is on his way to being more than just a serviceable body in the NBA. You can argue he was the 3rd-5th best rookie once he figured out his role - albeit in a weak rookie class. A lot of guys probably turned down the invite, did their time, and frankly there just are not a lot of good bigs available.

Kevin Love, Lamarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, Al Jefferson.....just off the top of my head.
August 7, 201412 yr Kevin Love, Lamarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, Al Jefferson.....just off the top of my head. With the Love deal being in formality stages it was rumored he may decide to rejoin the team. Plumlee > Love
