Plumlee over Cousins?

Featured Replies

If I were Rose..... After seeing what just happened to George I'm not sure I'd want to play. BUTTTTTT you're representing the USA so no doubt I'd suit up if I were in his shoes which is why he will. Still risky though given his track record for injuries.

While true even if they weren't playing for Team USA they'd be playing somewhere. Summertime means The Drew League out west, star studded pickup games all across the country(remember that summer KD played somewhere different everyday and documented it on social media?) and the annual Rucker Park appearances as well. These dudes play ball nonstop so the same injury risk is present whether they play on Team USA or not. Rose could easily reinjure his knee doing conditioning.

True. I sometimes forget that basketball is a lot different than football or baseball. I also know how easy it is to re-injure a knee. February 2001 torn meniscus doing agilities for football. Still ticks me off.

Is KI a better shooter than Wall? I don't know...if he is then it wasn't a bad choice as FIBA ball makes it tough to drive as Wall does best. You need shooters and distributors not just distributors.

Their shooting stats are almost identical from last year whereas Wall appears to be a better distributor with the ball. Wall's FG pct. was .433 and Irving's was .43, Wall's 3 pt. pct. was .351 and Irving's .358, FT pct. was .86 to .80 in favor of Irving and Wall averaged 8.8 assists per game to Irving's 6.1.

After reading the Sporting News article I can see why they would choose Plumlee over Cousins and I wouldn't be bothered or upset by it. At first I thought it would be ludicrous but everything said in that article made perfect sense. I would take Cousins over Drummond but I see why Plumlee is a possible choice over Cousins.

I was looking at career shooting numbers. Wall is a 43% shooter, 30% from deep, 79% at the line. KI is 45% overall, 38% from deep and 86% at the line. Those number tell me KI is a better shooter. Not just the catch and shoot stat everybody is using to denigrate KI's game.

True in total career stats. But if you look at trends and compare this past season stats there is no gap between them. Irving has gone down in every shooting stat and Wall has gone up the last 3 seasons. Irving statisticaly isn't the shooter he was his rookie season .

I guess it comes down to personal preference then and in this case Coach K loves KI.

Dear Coach Kal, please cut Cousins. Pleeeeeaaasssseeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Come on. There's not way you can say with a straight face that Plumlee is better than either of those guys or that if Plumlee weren't a former Duke player that he'd even be given the opportunity to make it over either of those guys. I wouldn't defend Cal if he pulled this kind of crap. We have one game to worry about-- Spain. They have Ibaka and both Gasols. Plumlee is in over his head with any of them.

I've never said or implied that Plumlee is better than Cousins in any facet of the game of basketball. Now, if we're talking about who is better suited to play a backup role as a big man, provide 6-15 minutes of role playing to give the starters a breather and do so with a smile on his face and not cause any problems at all about it......who is better suited for that backup role? The soon to be all star or the career backup?

And anyone who watched the second half of the scrimmage watch Plumlee put up 10 points on Cousins so while Cousins is easily the better player of the two let's not act like Plumlee doesn't deserve to be there. Plumlee has outplayed Drummond so far also.

Me either. Punched a wall pad in practice? Hope no one got mad and said a bad word.

The point of that was the fact that he failed to get back on defense after the play because he was too busy punching the wall pad. I'm thinking at this point of their lives the Team USA coaches shouldn't have to tell anyone to get back on defense. Well, they won't tell them that. They'll just cut them for someone who does get back on defense.

Anyone who has ever coached a sport at any level has likely coached a kid loaded with talent who is simply not a good fit for the team. Some people aren't worth the headache and IMO if Cousins is cut that is what happened in this situation. We aren't talking about the most mature and emotionally stable player in the NBA. That shouldn't be forgotten.

Plumlee doesn't start for the Nets yet he is the best option for team USA? Jason Kidd must feel stupid right now, he had no idea what he had on his bench.
