Guardians of the Galaxy

Solid movie that met or exceeded my expectations from the comic books. My wife enjoyed it as well and she does not share my comic book fanboy love of most of these movies.

Guessing at some point there will be some coming together of the Guardians and Avengers, since they both are destined to face Thanos at some point!

I've heard that is happening at some point.

Makes sense, it was pretty much set up by this movie...I'd guess that it won't be the next Avengers movie but probably the one after that.

Great movie! My wife loved it and she isn't a comic fan like me. Lots of great action, a plot you can keep up with and Rocket Racoon and Star Lord provide a ton of comedy. This is what summer movies are all about- I loved it!

I went in with no background. I just finished the Bar Exam two days before and wanted to do something nice for myself so I geeked out and saw it in IMAX, RealD 3D. It was cool, but I was also off to the side at a weird angle because the show was almost sold out, so I was a little sick looking at the 3D effects from a weird angle (only the 2nd time I'd ever seen a 3D movie). Thought the comedy was good, but I didn't understand the backstories and all that. Good enough and definitely worth a rental, but I wouldn't redo the whole experience of splurging on the movie just to see it in theaters like I did.

The movie was a whole lot of fun. My only complaint is the gratuitous profanity when it really wasn't necessary. I guess I wanted it to be a kid friendly as possible. Thank God I don't have to explain the backlight/Jackson Pollack reference. :)

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) - Parents Guide IMDB Parent Guide is a Great Resource to read when deciding if a movie is suitable for children. There is one available for every movie.

I took my son -- wish they hadn't used the word that starts with PR and rhymes with stick. Beyond that, I thought the profanity was manageable. My son loves the Marvel movies so we see them all.

I want to see this.

If I know nothing about the back story going in will that matter? If so, what do I need to know without any spoilers?

As far as other marvel movies are concerned you don't have to really know anything about the comics or a backstory to understand the movie.

If you must know something then know;

1. Thanos is one evil guy who controls a lot of what's going on and will have a cameo role in The Avengers 2, and be the main villain in The Avengers 3.

You don't need to know anything to enjoy this. Just sit back and enjoy it.

Took my son to watch it today. He really enjoyed. I thought it was good but not great.

Agreed. My daughter really enjoyed it & I thought it was okay.

The music was the highlight of the film IMO.

Just got home from the theater. That was awesome.

Can't get over how funny the script was. The direction too. James Gunn knocked this one out of the park.

Chris Pratt can do no wrong apparently: Parks & Rec, The Lego Movie, Zero Dark Thirty... the guy knows how to pick 'em.

Took my 8 year old grandson tonight. He had seen it once and wanted to again, so Paps did. I absolutely loved it. I laughed and enjoyed the whole two hours. I have minimal knowledge of the Marvel stuff, but didn't need any for this one. Just a real good time.

If I get out to another movie soon, this will be my next one. I was debating between this and When The Game Stands Tall.
