I'm not going to question the integrity of those who serve on a jury. I've been on them and the people on them for the most part seem pretty darn responsible and serious about their job, moreso than the average voter. He convinced 8 out of 10.

Ventura led many to believe for years that he was a Combat Vet because he had a Vietnam Service Medal, he was stationed in the Philippines the entire time and never saw combat. The Medal was given to all soldiers that were stationed in that theater if they actually made it to Vietnam or not. When pinned down on this he reluctantly admitted to it some years ago.

 

He has a history of being a bully and playing fast and loose with the truth.

I've been on Juries where 10 out of 12 couldn't spell jury.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Ventura. I can just understand why he would continue the suit and why he would be proud of winning.

Well in this case it was allowed. Both lawyers met and agreed as long as 8 jurors agreed they would accept it. The judge allowed it and 8 it was.

You're right. That was a strange decision, but I am guessing that Ventura has much deeper pockets and decided to roll the dice instead of continuing to pay huge legal bills.

If Ventura is smart, and there's no evidence that he is, he will now claim he's proved his point but has no interest in profiting from the widow of a fellow seal and accepts just enough to cover his legal bills. I also like the idea someone had about donating it to the wounded warriors project. Don't think we'll see either.

I'm guessing at least half the money will go toward legal fees.

I've listened to Ventura numerous times while being interviewed by Stern and now I find out he wasn't actually a SEAL. Apparently he was on a UDT teeam, they became part of the SEALS after he departed the military.

I believe the UDT's are now the SEALS. Same group, new name. That's my understanding anyway.

From what I have read this will not cost Chris Kyle's widow anything. The insurance company for the publishing company will be liable.

Just for clarification, Ventura was a UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) member, not a SEAL.

 

UDT was the predecessor to SEALS. Some UDT members opted for further SEAL training; Ventura did not.

 

But to be clear, UDT team members were still elite.

Sounds like this is (somewhat) the approach the Kyle estate is taking in appealing the decision as an infringement of the First Amendment.
