July 29, 201412 yr Author What benefit is there to merging the schools? Financial - cost per pupil goes way down. Improved test scores - it's easier to raise the scores and grades at 1 underperforming school than if they are spread out across 4 schools. Specialized faculty - ability for the exceptional student to excel in advanced classes, and for the student that needs extra help to get it. Accountability - studies show that in general, smaller schools and districts are held less accountable than larger ones. Higher faculty pay and benefits, lower faculty turnover. Expanded extra-curricular activities. Greater cultural diversity.

I love my "fish-eating" bretheren to the south, but we are doing fine up on the "hill", they are more than welcome to join us up here.
