It's MLB. Everyone makes a lot of money next year.

Well in that case lets get Tulo and Cargo from the Rockies and call it a day.

I really don't understand the whole "big bat" talk for LF. Why does it have to be a big bat? Why can't they just find someone that doesn't suck? They have plenty of power in guys like Frazier, Meso, Bruce, and Votto (if healthy). They don't need a HR hitter, they need a good player that is solid defensively, and hits somewhere in the .270 range with a .335+ OBP.

Huh? But they have an 8.5 million dollar outfielder in LF...

If I'm calculating correctly, if Ludwick had just 1 more hit, and 4 more walks...he'd have those exact stats.

This would be really funny if you weren't 100% serious. :ohbrother: :banghead:

You don't like Kemp?

I throw those Reds names up there because that is what it will take to get him.

I know Kemp has the big contract which means in reality there is no way the Reds would make that deal. But if we are looking strictly on the field at what would make this team better, I would trade one of those 3 for Kemp. he would have a huge impact on the daily batting order beyond his own stats.

I think I'll change my user name to

Thor Like Body.

Translation for the ignorant please...

Be careful .... you might have one of these coming at you ... :banghead:

I think he was saying "if that happens, then he will"

I took it as... "Voice of Reason" proposing the Kemp deal (i.e. unreasonable) would be like LCRW changing his user name to "Thor Like Body".

Gotcha ... and I agree. The Reds aren't going to make that deal because of the money owed to Kemp. My contention though is that the Reds need that type of bat if they want to WIN in the playoffs. And the only way they get a bat like that is to give something up. The Reds have enough starting pitching depth to give up a starter for a bat. Broxton would have as many saves as Chapman if he were the closer. It wouldn't be as spectacular as Chapman, but the number of saves would be about the same.

Correct. And if Ludwick was able to play the entire year at those levels as an everyday player, they wouldn't have a need there. He can't, so they do.

Perhaps. They need Votto to be "former MVP Votto" and problem solved, IMO.

Guess I missed the memo that we've played the entire year already. Just kidding. I know what you're saying. But the point is, at this moment in time, we basically have a player that has the stats that were mentioned...and everyone is in an uproar over it. I'm just saying if you're going to make a trade and give up something valuable...then you better dang well have a significant improvement over what you already had.

After your Kemp post I thought it described me about as well as your user name did you.

I hear you. My post #70 details where I am coming from on my Kemp trade post. The fact is Kemp is in trade rumors with players like Max Scherzer (arguably better than any of the 3 Reds pitchers I mentioned) possibly going in exchange. The players I mentioned in my post are not outlandish. The outlandish part is that the Reds would do a deal like that because of payroll issues.

To restate my thought, I think the Reds need to make a trade for a top level offensive player if they truly want to win in the post season and they will need to give up one of their top pitchers to make a deal like that happen.
