July 22, 201412 yr No and yes. We have seen the Reds bounce off the mat too many times to say stick a fork in them. Yes, they need to make a trade. If they really want to win, they would trade Cueto, Latos or Chapman for Matt Kemp. His salary is unacceptable for the Reds IMO.
July 22, 201412 yr Author The answer is Matt Kemp? You serious? I would break into Walt's office and throw his computer through his window if he trades any of those 3 for Matt Kemp. The guy with a negative WAR this year and makes 21.5M a year for the next 5 years? His WAR is worse than Ryan Ludwicks FYI.:lol::lol:
July 22, 201412 yr Umpire show. Glad Price got tossed. Maybe it'll light a fire of some sort under this team. No way Meso was anywhere close to going and everyone knew it. We'll see if he gets tossed as he gets back behind the dish. I know I would. I thought Price should have gotten his monies worth on the ejection. He needed to blow a gasket and he didn't. I understand the home plate umpire is a rookie. Down right arrogant. Has that know-it-all attitude. He didn't need help from the first base umpire......he knows it all. Price should have worn him out, although I don't think that is his style.
July 22, 201412 yr Reds are hard to watch right now. 5 AWFUL games in a row. If this team were in NY, George would be on the hotline to Billy Martin and Price would be cleaning out his office.

You are probably right, but it is too early to tell if Price can manage. Worst thing that could have happened to Price and the Reds was that 11 game stretch before the AS break. Fools gold that cannot be reproduced. Luckily, they may have stomped out that enthusiasm with the 1st 5 games after the AS break in time to be able to do something before trade deadline. Worst case scenarios would have been playing .500 ball until JUL 31 and then regressing to their mean at the beginning of AUG. Other advantage to this run is that if they continue to play this way, they can shut Votto and BP down to try to get fully healthy.
July 22, 201412 yr When you have a makeshift lineup pretty much the whole season, it would be hard for anyone to manage. If this team doesn't make the playoffs, the blame is all on Jocketty. Price can only do so much with this roster he has right now. There is absolutely zero organization depth.
July 22, 201412 yr Yes, they need to make a trade. If they really want to win, they would trade Cueto, Latos or Chapman for Matt Kemp. This would be really funny if you weren't 100% serious. :ohbrother: :banghead:
July 22, 201412 yr Don't expect BP or Votto to be back. Let's see how Lutz does at first. As this team builds for next year, who can you count on? Hamilton, Meso, Frazier and Simon have all over achieved. You have to solve LF with a big bat, BP will be back based on his contract, as will Votto. If you make any trades, do so with next year in mind.
July 22, 201412 yr I really don't understand the whole "big bat" talk for LF. Why does it have to be a big bat? Why can't they just find someone that doesn't suck? They have plenty of power in guys like Frazier, Meso, Bruce, and Votto (if healthy). They don't need a HR hitter, they need a good player that is solid defensively, and hits somewhere in the .270 range with a .335+ OBP.

July 22, 201412 yr He makes a lot of money next year. It's MLB. Everyone makes a lot of money next year.
