I think people in Cincy still view him as the same party-guy, Junior sycophant that he was when he was 25. He, like many, have probably matured. This story would be indicative of that, not just the gesture, but the thought process behind it: Y! SPORTS.

The partying I've personally been witness to involved multiple women, not beers and smokes....and good for him for that!

Nice gesture on Dunn's part, was surprised at the number of positive comments below the story.

Awfully different than the lazy narrative in Cincy, huh?

I always thought Dunn was a great guy, he just never worked to improve in areas he struggled.

Adam Dunn is a career .142 hitter with 2 strikes. That to me says he is a very selfish player. He isn't willing to shorten up his swing just to make contact. Even if he averaged 30 less K's a year, he'd of hit around .280 consistently. That would make him a sure fire HOF'er.

There is zero basis for your numbers there.

Looking at the numbers without doing any calculations, he averaged around a .250-.260 Avg with the Reds. He puts 30 more balls in play .280 is very obtainable.

Has Dunn ever participated in the All Star home run hitting contest?

Lets also keep in mind that his 366 OBP is higher than Ichiro Suzuki's and for a long time Dunn's OBP was higher than Derek Jeter's. As far as his defense, was it really that awful? Did we ever lose a game because of his defense? I know he was not fast and did not have a good arm, but he caught everything that was hit to him.

Except for opening day in like 2005 where he did pirouettes in left field trying to catch a ball, I cannot think of any real blunders he made except not getting to balls that other Left fielders may have gotten to.

You had me til that.

No, I always thought he would have a great shot at winning.
