No. Highlands will come into the season on fire feeling like they have to prove something. The real question should be, if Highlands wins out and takes the title, how many of the games will have a running clock? Round one and two, definitely. Round three, not likely, but has had running clock against Covington Catholic in recent past. Round four, if Boyle County, very likely. Finals, if Collins, running clock by the fourth quarter proving that the 2013 state finals was one of the biggest upsets ever.

 

They are that good. Highlands will be no different this year than previous years and if they play their best ball and gel as a team they will be winning their 7th title in 8 years.

I agree Highlands will be great, and is, more then likely, the preseason favorite to win the State Championship, but the thought above is a flawed way of thinking. Collins was a talent laden team in 2013 with great players and a team that was looked at for over two years to challenge Highlands. Judging the 2014 Collins team, or any team for that matter, by their 2013 performance is flawed. It was only an upset to those that didn't have an intimate knowledge of Collins.

I knew Highlands had some issues heading into the state game. I also knew Collins had some real studs. With that said there are few who would have predicted a Collins win.

If I would have been put on the spot and had to make a perdition, I would have said Highlands would win. It's the safe guess and more then likely I would have been correct in most games. But, I did think Collins was pretty darn good.

Highlands beat Collins 47-0 in 2012 and was 40 points better last year, but Collins showed up with their A+ game while Highlands did not. To be honest, I did not think Highlands would even be capable of beating themselves against Collins but they did. As for Boyle, the only way it would not be a running clock game is if Boyle has moved down to 3A this year - which I do not think they will until 2015. Both Collins and Boyle are very good programs, but Highlands is Highlands.

It's a little Ridiculous to say Highlands was 40 points better last year and just because a team plays their A+ game they overcome that? I might buy that they probably could have been 7 points better- but that's starting to sound like a certain SK fan when you say 40.

I love Josiah Robbins to death but I think Beau Hoge has the edge in the comparison of the two QBs.

Beau Hoge is the real deal. Can kill you with his feet or arm and is an extremely smart football player. I bet he can probably break down game film better than most head coaches..
