I never said that. Fact is kids for the last decade or so are at Highlands to play for Dale. BW has a difficult task of keeping the offense going full steam and it is his job to do so now. However, his role has ways been D - D/C as far as I know? So that is still what reflects on him the most.

How has Highlands freshman teams been the last few seasons? Have they been as good as they had been in the past? That may help in determining if this is the year to beat Highlands compared to other years.

It could be argued that Dales hoarding of players on offense last season was the reason they lost a game that they should have won easily. I know you guys are much closer to it, but it seemed to me like the D was a lot thinner than the O last season. Seemed like they rotated more players at receiver than the entire Defense did.

Fair enough, he's a big boy and knows what he's walking into. I just hope the rug (support) doesn't get pulled out from under him if they lose a game or struggle to win a few.

I would be surprised if that happens, BW is very popular and HHS fans are pretty smart and realize how unusual and special Dale was.

I wouldn't lay awake at night wondering whether BW will get it done or not, it will be left up to the kids to carry on the Tradition and etch their names in into the record books.

Last years HHS freshman team was the weakest, by far, in the 6 years I've been following the hs game in NKy.

Agree. And last I looked, Highlands Bluebirds have gone through this before and Highlands will be Highlands will be Highlands, etc. They have been the cream of the crop for many years. I did not worry who I was going against that was standing on the HHS sideline in a visor or cap. I had my hands full with the Bluebird player in front of me. You better come with your A game for 4 quarters if you want a chance at a possible win.

If not, the Birds may lose a game or two. This team will be poised to make a statement and hush the critics. If NKY competition can learn from the Collins model. It could be a humble pie eating season in the ft…???

Dale took the program to a whole new level. If there is a small drop off, they are still going to be a force to be reckoned with in 4A this year and 5A going forward.

 

The kids in the community still want to wear the blue and white and play for championships. I don't see that ending anytime soon regardless of who's coaching.

 

I'm sure BW will do fine. He's had a great mentor to work with for many years. He's a smart guy and knows the game. He has the support of the school and the community too.

 

Bottom line - Highlands is and will be one of the top programs in the state for a long time to come.

And what was the Collins model? They won on the second to last play of the game if I am not mistaken.

HHS will be fine. They will work out the kinks in the scrimmages and be rolling by the regular season.

 

Seniors have a way of graduating every year. New players step in and fill the spots. At this time last year, the starters were pretty much set. This year's team has more players fighting for positions this July than last year's team. There aren't as many household names as last year. This all just makes the story more interesting.

 

If they do fall off, it won't be because BW doesn't know how to coach or understand the Highlands way. This isn't his first rodeo. He's had his hand in more than a few HHS victories over the years.
