June 21, 201412 yr One of my favorite sad songs is the Fields of Athenry. It is an Irish folk song about a young father imprisoned for stealing corn to feed his family during a potato famine. A prison ship awaits him in the bay to transport him to Botany Bay, Australia.

June 21, 201412 yr "Tears in Heaven" - Eric Clapton Tears in Heaven gets me every time I hear it. The raw emotion is just so... raw. Not a huge country music fan but Over You by Miranda Lambert, a song about the loss of Blake Shelton's brother, also gets me.
