Sorry Voice of Reason, if I sat in this lane and waited, your blinker won't make me let you in after skipping the whole line. Similarly, on a Fort Washington Way waiting to get onto the Brent Spence, and having crept along since Horseshoe for 30 minutes, don't think you can speed up to the front and I'll let you in. Blinker or not, it ain't happening.

Blinker or not, it ain't happening. I can roll with there being exceptions like this. Those drivers are the ones being rude by trying to cut line. Line cutters are the ultimate in rudeness. I am talking about a situation like if I am on the Brent Spence trying to merge over to the right to go downtown, there is a nice gap between cars, I put my turn signal on and then you speed up just because you don't want me moving into that lane. Or, I am merging onto the highway in heavy traffic, sitting there waiting my turn with turn signal on, a gap opens and I go to merge then you speed up to close the gap so I can't merge. Those are the situations that tick me off.

Yeah close that cushion so we can stop and go, stop and go, stop and go.....a little cushion keeps things moving better than being up someone's gas hole just waitin to hit the brakes.
August 19, 201412 yr On ramps are not intended to be intersections. You don't go down to the end of one...and stop. Nor are you supposed to only be at half the speed limit by the time you are ready to merge, either.

In fact...and I'm sure this will get blasted from all the NASCAR drivers on here...if I am in one of two lanes of bumper-to-bumper, standstill traffic, I'll often pony up beside an 18 wheeler, and allow traffic to slowly move ahead of us. I'd much rather go 1/4 of a mile at nonstop, idle speed...than ride the bumper of the guy in front of me, and have to stop 12 times during the same distance.

August 19, 201412 yr Or the ultimate butt munch who thinks he doesn't need to wait in traffic during a traffic jam and cruises by you on the shoulder. I love catching them early in my side mirror so I can pull half my car onto the shoulder and half in the lane so he gets stuck. Here is my move in this situation........I pull over onto the shoulder (blocking the "line cutters") and put down my passenger window as I pull up to the car next to me to inform that driver that I'm blocking all the line cutters off, and when it is finally time to merge to let me in front of them. You want to talk about some "urinated" of folks behind me. :banana:
