It was a great and entertaining game to watch. Barker's three pointer with the foul called on McDavid was a key. Also, I thought that everytime Ashland was able to get the ball to McDavid in the post good things happened for the T-Cats. I thought the better team won, Coach Cooksey has done an outstanding job with his team and they deserve to be called champions.

Adam Cannoy NEEDS to shoot the ball outside for this team to have success. Its a shame that something(someone) is holding him back from doing that.

 

I thought Cannoy played a smart game, his slashes to the basket, offensive rebs and putbacks are his best ways to contribute. But I would have liked to see him shoot atleast once from the outside to keep the D honest.

Congrats to Fairview Eagles. Sounded like the game was well played in the first half, but the second half wasn't quite as pretty.

I only got to listen to a little a bit of the game as I drove to work last night. The way Dicky desribed it there were a bunch of missed easy buckets last night from both sides. It got me to thinking that there just aren't that many good shooters around anymore. I got to thinking about all the good players that played during my high school days, Doug Smith, Chuck Cantrell, Jon Webb, Shawn Conley, Greg McCauley. Those guys could flat stroke it from outside. Where have all the good shooters gone? Anway congrats to Coach Cooksey and the Eagles.

With the way Fairview played they deserved to win this ball game. I believe that Ashland has a good shot at winning the region though.

Actually Fairview had previously played in the 64th from 1957-1973.You are correct in stating that it was their first district title in 27 years.It is also their first ever 64th title.

 

Who now owns the longest streak for not winning a district in the 16th region?

?? Forget about him? No more does Ashland live and die with one player. McDavid and Wilcox carried Ashland in the first half, Thomas and Reliford stepped up in the second half. Thats just how it goes. I dont think the "decision makers" forgot about him. He had scored basically all of his 13 points on the 5 or 6 possessions before "the biggest shot of the year" as you say.

 

 

Im not the sharpest knife in the drawer but if Matt can score 13 points on just 5 or 6 possessions wouldnt it be smart to let him keep shooting. He scored so easy I dont see why he is not allowed the freedom to do that all the time. Turn him loose and let him play!

These teams could easily meet again a week from tonight in Morehead.

Masterful job of coaching by Rex Cooksey.His players know their roles better than anyone in the region.They(the players) for the most part play within themselves and don't try to do thing they aren't capable of doing.

Black-Great touch,tough rebounder and very gritty.(had to be MVP for the 64th tournament).

Bayless-A real banger,compliments Black well.Surprisingly good interior passer.

Hutchinson-Hard nosed ,good shooter can and will take people off the dribble.

Holbrook-Very good spot up shooter,scored 6 straight late against Boyd that were huge.

Barker-consummate point guard.Runs the team,good passer and capable scorer.

Stewart-Has played huge this year.Good shooter.Remember he was MVP of the ALL A.

McCormick-Last couple of weeks has been significant in his ability to "spell" Bayless/Black.

Congratulations to Fairview, great game! Couldn't be happier for Barker. He was so excited after the game. He gave all of his teammates a standing ovation when they were named all-tourney and was the last one named. Great kid, very proud for him! Good luck in the region Eagles!:thumb: :thumb:
