Obama and his minions have tried to hide the truth about his real nature at every turn. It's not my fault people on twitter dont know about his associations with terrorist and Islam,, maybe role your eyes at the media.

The sad part in all of this is that a hashtag is used to just bring awareness about a tragic situation in Africa and instead of the focus being on never forgetting about the kidnapped girls people want to focus on who is using a hashtag.

 

To to me that lost focus on who is using a hashtag to remember is way more stupid than using a hashtag.

For me, it isn't who is using the stupid hashtag, it's the stupid hashtag and the sophomoric use of social media. It isn't going to bring these girls home. Wish I was wrong, but I'm not.

If we were able to have a rational discussion the only point or question I would make is who exactly is Michelle Obama raising awareness to ? All she has to do is make her husband aware over dinner who happens to be the most powerful man in the world.

 

I agree that raising awareness by citizens or celebrities helps in making politicians aware and take action. Again I don't have a problem with the first ladies tweet it couldn't do any harm. So its silly to get upset over it. I just think when its all said and done the only person she need to make aware is her husband so in reality a discussion would be more useful in her case rather than a tweet.

While I agree with the sentiment expressed by this Army Ranger, his actions will probably kill his career. If he does not receive a general officer memorandum of reprimand (a/k/a "GOMOR"), it is very likely that his next performance review will delay or kill his next promotion. Criticism of Obama and the chain of command is not uncommon in the military among peers but it shows poor judgment taking that criticism public.

 

Publicly criticizing a family member of an officer in one's chain of command is just not done if you plan on a long military career. That is doubly true of the president. Anybody in the Ranger's chain of command could initiate an action that would result in ending his career.

I don't get Twitter either. I have two accounts - one political and one occupational- but I rarely use either of them.

 

I have also never seen the point to texting. I still prefer email or a phone call. However, I do see the draw of apps like Hangouts. Having a video chat with a group of friends is pretty cool.

And, honestly, if it's the flighty doofuses that this reaches....what are they going to do? If they're too lazy and self absorbed to watch the news once in a while, they'll be too lazy and self absorbed to petition the president or anyone else to do anything. The whole thing is silly. Like it or not, social media has changed how information is disseminated. For some, social media is a starting point.

So sad to say but our generation of kids, people in 20s and 30s are addicted to Twitter, Facebook, Skype, YouTube. It's the first thing most do when they wake up and last thing they do before bed.

Boys and girls dating don't even talk on the phone, they have a texting relationship.

Kids don't watch the news, old people do and the old people don't know how to Facebook or Twitter, at least the majority don't.

Once again I agree with much of what you have said. Like it or not, the way millions get their news has changed.

I don't think I've watched television news in close to a year or more and I immediately regretted turning it on then. The internet has infinitely improved access to information and breaking news and you aren't beholden to what a handful of outlets decide is important, which are usually superficial and inconsequential ratings bait. You can shake your canes at Twitter as well, but it's made the expanse of the internet's capacity for information even more accessible.
