Interesting. It seems like a county the population of Grayson would be too small to support such a thing, especially with a large facility next door in Hardin Co. Guess they've found out that the corrections business is a pretty good racket in this country, too.

 

Hey...they're up to 25,746 as of the 2010 census. 6,699 live in Leitchfield.

What does a Jailer in a county with no jail do, exactly?

I did my civic duty. Polling place was at the same school as the district baseball tournament. 2 birds with 1 stone.

Voted a little while ago. Only 2 choices - US Senate and Mason County Jailer.

Voted after work. Ghost town!

I got to the poll at about 5:05 and there wasn't a soul in sight but me.

I walked in and no one else was voting.

2 others walked in before I left.

The workers said it had been a ghost town most of the day.

Well now the waiting begins as my wife and son's boss was defeated tonight...just praying the new Sheriff gives the current staff a chance to prove themselves.

I voted and thank God the only big race I was the most concerned with went the way I needed it to go. I'm a happy camper tonight.

Thought only Dems weren't showing today.

I didn't vote. I'm on midnight shift and completely forgot about it. Went home and crashed.

 

McConnell won though so I'm cool. :thumb:

I voted, like some of you was hoping to see a better turnout, but the polling place was not very busy.

 

There were some very interesting races here and 4 good friends of mine were elected.

 

The most interesting race was for 93rd district State Representative. Chris Harris defeated W. Keith Hall for that seat after a perticularly nasty campaign. Harris attacked Hall's record and reputation of being corrupt and profitting personally from business dealings on state and county contracts, etc. That race came down to about 200 votes.

 

Also current Jailer, Rodney Scott defeated perhaps the longest serving sheriff in Ky history, Fuzzy Keesee. Fuzzy had served as Pike Co Sheriff for 11 terms I think, nearly 50 years and Scott ended up taking about 67% of the votes.

 

Both are running unopposed in the fall election.

All Tell mentioned being registered in the wrong party, and being from Pike County I can relate.

 

If you are not a registered Democrat, then you basically have no vote in local elections.
