I've always wondered about that. I know quite a few people who say the same thing (one way or the other). It's not that much of an ordeal to switch your party designation is it?

I'm registered Independent (maybe the only one in Breckinridge Co. :lol:). I'm not voting today, not because I don't want to...but I have only been here 2 1/2 months, and I don't even know who these people are, what the state of the county is, who is good, who is bad....All I know is my sister isn't voting for the current Magistrate because the only time that gravel gets put on the road by the county is about 2 weeks before an election. :lol: All other times, the residents of this road pool their money and get as much as they can afford.

Most interesting local (Mason County) race is for jailer.

 

From the number of signs in Breckinridge Co, Jailer is the biggest race here too.

Since there aren't any Independents running in any major races, it was of no use whatsoever for me to vote for the local races. I have to forego the entire process, unfortunately.

22 years now and I've never missed a voting opportunity. I'm thankful for my right to vote!

While Bert isn't wrong there is a more practical reason. I have had the opportunity to interact with legislators regarding pending bills and while I can't prove it I feel like it's easier to get in the door if you're registered with the majority party.

I've always been tempted to go to my polling place, sign the register then walk out because I was disappointed with my choices.

I almost always write-in a protest vote, especially when someone is running unopposed.

Interesting facts most people don't realize about the Jailer in Kentucky.

 

In Kentucky by statute the Jailer makes the same pay as the County Judge Exec (most counties), The Sheriff and the County Court Clerk. (unless there is no jail)

There is an elected Jailer for many counties that do not have a jail.

Kentucky is the last state with the elected office of Jailer.
