Typically, you screw up like he did his sophomore year, you face the consequences and things go back to normal. You do it a second time, and this time a worse offense like getting in trouble with the law? You've become more trouble than your worth IMO.

Agreed. He can only blame himself. I hate it.

Where does he end up?

Georgetown???

Wonder what he got arrested for? Do they usually post the arrest record online without posting what it was for?

Local writer the covers LSU down there tweeted something to the effect of 'keeping Hickey eligible and on the floor for 3 years was a miracle'.

Enjoyed watching him when he faced UK, even though it seemed like he always saved his best games for the Wildcats. Shame.

LSU saw its roster get thinner Tuesday.

The program announced forward Shane Hammink along with guards Malik Morgan and Anthony Hickey will not return next season as the Tigers tried to get under the NCAA’s scholarship limit.

All three have been granted full releases as they try to find their next landing spots, a LSU spokesman said.

The loss of Hammink and Morgan are not entirely surprising, but the jettisoning of Hickey — a three-year starter — raises eyebrows.

Anthony Hickey Sr., the guard’s father, told The Advocate his son was informed last week that the program does not intend to renew his scholarship. The rising senior had his run-ins with coach Johnny Jones over the past two seasons, largely over missed classes and study hall periods.

Agree.

Wow. I tell you what though, once you start pulling scholarships and kids see you are willing to pull that trigger, it can make recruiting a little harder. I know in the past it's something most coaches didn't really want to do unless the kid just screwed up royally.

Georgetown? Look a little further, keep your eyes open in Stillwater!

Travis recruited him pretty hard before he went to LSU.

The Daily Oklahoman (NewsOK.com) reported Wednesday that it appeared that Hickey might land in Stillwater, and on Thursday a source close to Oklahoma State's basketball program confirmed that the former Kentucky Mr. Basketball is headed that way.

According to The Oklahoman, Hickey will seek immediate eligibility under the NCAA's run-off rule that gives a player the possibility of immediate eligibility instead of sitting out a season like most transfers.

In order for that rule to take effect, the player must be in good academic standing and the school he is transferring from must provide a statement that verifies he was not invited to remain in the program, which it appears LSU and third-year coach Johnny Jones are prepared to do.

Apparently it was a miracle to keep him eligible for three seasons so I wonder how that plays into the equation.

Hickey, McCants, Chris Walker, they will all play.

Hickey's GPA was always pretty good. OKlahoma St style of ball fits better for Anthony than LSU.

He didn't have any eligibility issues, he was fine with his coursework. If he had issues he wouldn't be able to play this year or transfer into OSU.
