I'm as pro UL and UK if there ever was one in. All I need to know to dispute that is...how many UL billboards do you see in Lex and the number of UK ones (even football) do you see in Louisville?

If Rick has said that, he's mistaken. Not even in basketball is half the city Kentucky fans.

Go look at various coaching rankings, most of the experts think we traded up. Personally, I think Strong is still growing into the position and will be a better coach down the road than he is now. I also think his PR skills with the fans were a negative, and his dictation of a conservative offense hurt the team on and off the field. Petrino is a much better fit in that regard, but I'm biased- I like to joke that football-wise, Bobby Petrino is my spirit animal.

 

I also think Strong took one of the worst jobs he could have picked in terms of having traded up (no denying he did) but still stepping into a situation where I have my doubts that he will succeed. I also think that Vance Bedford had a lot more to do with Louisville's defensive success than a lot of people realize. That radar defense in the Miami game was beautiful.

I don't know if they would have been better. It's become abundantly clear that Chad Morris thinks he's next in line for the Florida job and it's the one he really wants, so he's out.

I posted some threads awhile back where I'd made a hypothetical about Strong leaving (ironically enough, for Texas, months before he took the job), and asked Louisville fans who they'd look to and if Petrino would be an option.
